Creepy: topamax?

Posted by floatingbridge on October 27, 2011, at 18:09:45

Hey Creepy,

You mentioned a 12.5mg dose of topamax. Did you notice any effect on any aches or pains you might have?

I have been thinking of asking my doc. I see people w/fibro taking it. I'd like a low dose.

Thanks.

Yeah. I'm going down the list of permissibles. Ones that can be taken w/maoi's. You know gabapentin has sx's for me. I imagine there will be downsides to anything.... Topamax comes up alot, though many take it for migraines at higher doses.

I was taking it with desipramine at the time, so its hard to say which was doing it, but I did have good pain relief. I remember actually feeling comfortable outside in the winter for the first time in my life, lol.
I wonder if PTSD has had some effect on how my body processes pain.
I think all the mood stabilizers offer some amount of pain relief. They slow ion channels or something like that.

Thanks creepy.

Yeah, PTSD can affect some people that way. I think it's stress and the jarring to the system. Not for everyone, but some.
