Hello everyone,
I have been posting about my trial on Nardil and am still having very little to no positive effects. The new problem is that about a week and a half ago all the sudden I looked at my clock and realized it was 3am. It was strange because even with all the difficulties I had been having, luckily I was still sleeping pretty well. Since that day I have struggled basically every night to get any amount of sleep. I went to my doctor 2 days ago and he prescribed ambien 10mg. The first night I at least slept from about 10pm to 3am. Last night however, I basically had another night like before. If I slept I really can't tell you how much. I was aware of the possible insomnia side effect of nardil, but always that if it came I could augment it with something else at least for the time being. I don't know if it has something to do with my metabolism or just my general body makeup, but I never tend to respond to anything like I should. Another problem is that through all of this I have given everything I have to keep my job, but I work the day shift and have to be in at 7am. I called in this morning because I just don't feel it is fair to my body and my continuing anxiety/depression to push through everyday like nothing is wrong. I keep telling myself, Nardil will work and my job will not continue to feel like this huge burden on me again, meanwhile nothing changes. My doctor decided to keep me on 60mgs of Nardil because he didn't really want to go up until this insomnia issue is resolved. And I agree with him in alot of ways, but I also think if I developed a sense of well-being again and just positive feelings like I used to have then maybe even sleep would be easier, or more manageable at least. I don't want to lose my job, but everyday has been difficult and now I have the added problem of not sleeping. Any thoughts on ambien, nardil, or anything would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mantus

I have a lot of trouble sleeping on Parnate. I have been on it just over 5 weeks. I started out sleeping fairly well on Parnate, but sleep got a little worse. As to the severity, it comes and goes. I think it is silly that your doctor wouldn't go up on Nardil. With every drug, there is a therapuetic range. Other factors that decrease the effectiveness of drugs is your metabolism. Your metabolism can either induce or inhibit a med. Inhibiting a med would obviously require a higher dose of that med. The most common factors leading to a lack of response is underdosing. I have been wondering about you lately. Keep us informed.
