I like the green as well. It gives a whole new look to my pills. ;)

No sign of the med lessening my depression, but it's too early for that. However, it is already helping with the pain all over my body. I hope it continues to do that.

I am really sensitive to changes in blood pressure and when I took desipramine it raised it a bit. It was usually right after I took it that it peaked. so I needed to take it and immediately go to sleep to avoid that.
I really miss the analgesic effects. I have found that properly treating the depression resolves the fibro pain indirectly.. not treating the symptom but the source.
I would never have believed my pain and fatigue could come from depression if I hadnt experienced it, just never have had it happen before.

Good luck,

What made you choose this medication over imipramine?

Creepy,

What are you taking now? Have you found something else that helps?

Probably that she is on an MAOI, and only wants to increase norepinephrine, because there might be a risk of serotonin syndrome with an imipramine + parnate combo.

Me neither. It's weird that I never had it before after decades of depression. Do you still take the Desipramine?

I forgot about that. Imipramine is one TCA that you can't take with an MAOI.

Nope, my doc took me off of it due to 'weight gain'. I was not happy about that decision I think it was BS.

Oh no, I was hoping that Desipramine wouldn't make me gain weight. That is why I switched from Notrriptaline to Desipramine.

Hi FB, well, I am doing better now that the holidays have almost ended. Once again, I came out alive. I don't think I did anything on Friday. Sh*t, I can't even remember and it was only yesterday! Oh, I remember now. I spent the day in bed, hiding from the world. I had my flannel PJs on, flannel sheets and my electric blanket. I had crying spells which were not fun, but to be expected. I think I got up around 4 pm or so.

I go back to work on the 5th.

Thanks for asking!

Maxime, :-)

Any relief pain-wise? Doesn't sound like it mood-wise. I'm sorry. I guess it takes awhile?

Yes, there has been some pain relief for sure. I still really hurt in my back and hips. Hopefully the Desipramine will help with that as well. But that overall feeling of having a bad flu where everything aches is gone! YAY!!!!

Maxime, that's fantastic news. If I need to ditch cymbalta, I might pitch that.

Do you think it works esp synergistically w/ parnate?

Some good news at any rate.

Great, Maxime! I felt an enormous relief in my depression when my related pain was lifted. Kind of made things just a bit easier to deal with without the distraction of huge discomfort at the same time. I hope it continues to ease for you.
Wishing for a better 2011 for you.

I don't know if it is working with the Parnate or not. My depression is just as bad as ever. But at least the physical pain is less.

FB, did you ever try Elavil? One of the people in my classes takes it 2 to 3 times a day and she says it really helps. She takes a very low dose so she doesn't worry about weight gain. She takes it with Neurontin.

Thank you PC, it does make it easier to deal with everything when some of the pain has been lifted. I hope it works even more soon. :)

There isnt really much weight gain documented with this drug. Its why I said the decision was BS.
I think its more like my doc wasnt familiar with it, or that TCAs have a bad rap for side effects so she didnt want to be bothered.
the main side effects are probably cardiac / BP, dry mouth, urinary hesitancy. Maybe a little physical anxiety depending on your flavor of brain and the dose.
my body pain has resolved about 80% with zoloft and wellbutrin. Treating the depression is whats helped me. It doesnt help the specific pain I have like bad knees, etc.
I may wind up back on it, since wellbutrin is pooping out again. too much anxiety.

Maxime, I haven't. Right now I'm having upper stomach cramps. The past two days were fine. I can't figure out a pattern. May just be another physical symptom--good days, bad days without much prediction. I tell most people close enough to me to see my fluctuations that I have fibromyalgia. Honestly, after reading and talking, I think the cymbalta is hard on my stomach, but that's about it. I will probably talk to my pdoc at some point and go to my gp.

That the despermine hasn't touched your depression, I'm sorry. Could you add some nortriplyne back? Probably doesn't work that way with maoi's.

FB, how are you doing today? How is your stomach? I feel so bad for you. You have had such a rough time of it. I think you are very courageous because you don't give up. You don't even talk about giving up. Does your doctor suggest that some test be done? Ultra sound etc. You can't go on suffering like this.

Take care FB, you are in my prayers.

I am pleased to report that the Desipramine has done the trick for my pain. It is such a relief. Now I don't have to keep on popping tylenol all day.

However, it hasn't done anything for my depression. :( Oh well, one out two isn't bad.
