I have been on 25 mg of zoloft for only three nights for my anx/depression and am almost anorgasmic. Other meds have done the same to me and this side effect would never go away until I stopped the med. It is such a small dose for this to be happening. The funny thing is I have been feeling a little better mentally already. Except now I do not want to continue the zoloft and go through the whole process of wasting my time because if I have to increase it it will only get worse. Dose anyone know if this side effect goes away with zoloft?

Buspar can help ease SSRI sexual side-effects.

25mg is low to suffer, you must have a low sexdrive.

This side effect will not go away but should diminish to a manageable level. The time period for that to happen is, in my own experience, in the 2 to 6 month range. At just 3 days it is too early to make any judgements. It is a common side effect with any of the SSRIs. Freedom from depression, assuming the med works, has a price tag.

Actually, I have a very high sex drive.Plus, I have high testosterone levels because I am on TRT therapy. Sex is one of lifes pleasures I have with my girlfriend and it is a nice escape from the Anx/Dep.

I have been down that road with other meds that gave me sexual side effects. Adding other drugs to the mixs never helped the problem just added to it.Plus I am very sensitive to these types of medications.

Generally I can not Tolerate antidepressants. So far with Zoloft this has been the worst side effect.Usually, I get a whole array of problems from AD's because I am very sensitive to them.I really do not want this side effect because my girlfriend and I are very sexual. And if the med works I probably will have to increase the dose which will only inhance the sexual side effects. Now,it has been four night on the med. Not sure if I will take it tonight.

There is no back up plan, It is what it is, an thats life.Zoloft is the best of the ssri,s for sex prob,s in my eyes.Stop the med an what next i ask you, there are meds that are sexually ok, but make you gain a hell of a lot of weight.

I have tried most all the meds availible.I think there are a couple of newer meds I have not tried like Pristiq and cymbalta and an older one effexor. I often am fearful of trying new meds because they make me feel much worse even after a good lenghthy trial.Do you have any experience with these meds?

I found pristiq, increased sexual sensitivity the first two weeks and then went back to normal, which is low for me. My response is probably atypical.

Cymbalta, Efexor, both worse in my opinion, d tox effexor is bad.I still dont get why your hit so bad at 25mg, i am ok at 100mg. Orgasm delay but thats not a bad thing.

Yes, SSRIs cause sexual side effects. For this reason, I don't think you will be satisfied with Zoloft. The sexual side effects are often very persistent.
If you depression is severe, you may have to accept the side effects of medication. Otherwise, I think you will be happier without SSRIs.

Otherwise, I think you will be happier without SSRIs.My depression is being triggered by my constent anxiety and it fluctuates a great deal.I can only take a smalll amount of clonazepam. Now, I thought I would try the medication rout again.

Zoloft and other SSRIs can certainly help anxiety in the long term, but they do have to be taken regularly. The sexual side effects tend to persist. You may see some return of orgasms but reduced libido over time.
It may be a price that you have to pay if you want to use SSRIs for anxiety. Ultimately, it's about balancing the adverse effects against the benefits.
