I suspect that I suffer from hypothyroidism and am always feeling very weak, slow and tired.
Is it ok to begin taking seroquel with a sluggish thyroid? I feel that a med like that is the last thing I need right now but my pdoc keeps insisting that I take it. He claims it will have no ill effects. I am afraid the drug will act as a depressant and bring me down even more- worsen my depression, slow down my already slow heartbeat etc. Even the thought of taking the first tablet seems to be out of the question right now.
Can anyone advise me on this?
TIA.

Maya a low thyroid can cause symptoms of tireness anxiety depression. See an endocrinologist and get your thyroid tested. Normal now per endos is between l-2 for TSH. But many other testing of other aspects of thyroid also done by an endo. Seroquel fell right asleep on 12.5mg. Phillipa

How did you come across 12.5? I thought the lowest dose possible was 25 because the tablet cannot be cut?

The pdoc said to split it as was on wellbutrin at time and he was hospitalizing me as seemed hypomanic to him which was the wellbutrin. He said take 12.5 mg til you go. After there they gave me 50mg that night with benzos almost fainted next morning and couldn't talk as words wouldn't come out so they took me off it. I couldn't tolerate the seroquel. Phillipa
