What should I tell pdoc on Thurs?

Posted by Deneb on November 1, 2010, at 18:43:53

I managed to get an emergency appointment with pdoc on Thurs. I'm going to write a page of things to talk about.

Is there anything you've noticed about me that I should tell pdoc? I will let her read what you write here. I'm not the best at expressing myself during appointments.

That you wrote you were not taking meds as prescribed and also seem to switch from sad, to angry, to threatening self-harm. Then all is well Phillipa

She is also your therapist, correct? Sorry my memory is bad right now.

I would make sure you tell her about how bad you feel about yourself. It appears from what you've written here that you feel like you beat this BPD thing and now that you are struggling with it again, you feel like you are a weak person. It sounds like you feel like a worthless failure and you should be better by now. Definitely emphasize your feelings of worthlessness so she can start to address this issue, with therapy or medication.

Good luck at your appointment!

Morgan

Tell her that your moods have been volatile. Tell her that you had to call the crisis centre "x" amount of times.

Ask her of maybe you would be better off taking Abilify since it doesn't cause sedation the way Risperdal does. But then again, maybe she prescribed the Risperdal to sedate you.

Ask her how to deal with stress and the fact that looking for a job is causing you more stress than you can deal with.

I hope all goes well at your appt. It's good that you are going prepared with a list of things to discuss.

Yes, pdoc is also my therapist.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm feeling a lot better right now. I think I made it through this latest "attack".

The appointment went well. It was only 10 mins though because pdoc had to fit me into a busy day. Pdoc said it was important to not change my meds without discussing it with her first. She said we can decrease the Risperdal, but that we would have to taper. I didn't taper properly and that's why I relapsed.

Do you mean she has started to taper you from Risperdal?

Or is that a longer term goal?

Ten minutes? That is not a lot of time. I usually spend about 45 minutes with my pdoc. Did she tell you how to taper the Risperdal, or is that for another time? Personally I think changing meds just as you start a new job is a bad idea. I know the Risperdal make you sleepy, but it you can overcome it, then I would stay at the dosage you are at.

No, she hasn't started to taper me yet. I think she will wait until I am for sure stable again.
