I feel the weather is also effecting a lot of us with the changing seasons and seems a few or a lot not sure are having problems or just don't feel right now. So lets work together and try to have a positive thread about a bit of good that is happening on your med or any good news you have heard. We have to pull together and help each other feel hope and some positive. How bout it guys. Please? Phillipa

The Abillify I take, along with my supplements, has really improved my quality of life. No more psychosis, mania, or severe depression. My anxiety is manageable and my mood is stable.

As I have written before, I have been stable on parnate for over a year. I also take perphenazine (low dose, only 12mg) for lingering SI and that seems to work well. The only side effect I have is insomnia and my p-doc prescribed trazadone (which is contra-indicated with MAOIs, but hasn't caused me any problems) and ativan. The ativan puts me to sleep and the trazadone keeps me there for 7-8 hours.
I empathize with people on this site who can't find meds to help. I was battered around for two years of severe depression and SI. MAOIs are best for people with atypical depression (sleeping all the time, severe SI, mood reactivity) which I had. I find that many people on this site are scared by MAOIs and all the food restrictions. But the restrictions are actually pretty minimal. Cheese, salami, pepperoni, red wine -- not exactly staples in the American diet. And not very healthy anyway, full of cholesterol. Besides, I have found that I can eat small amounts of parmesan and feta and even blue cheese on salads and pasta. I just have to keep the amount low and be careful.
So that's how I'm doing.

Today, I got anxious thinking about the future and possible problems that may lay ahead of me. Instead of dwelling on this all day, I took a Xanax and sat down to put things in perspective (my psychologist has helped a lot with this). I realized that I have a strong will to live and an even stronger will to help those who struggle in life just like myself.
Empathy is a real life saver for me.

Thanks so much for that post Emmanuel98. I've been having a lot of reservations about taking MAOI's for the past few years, but it sounds like it may be a shot worth taking.

Lets please keep this thread going. I feel so many me included need to hear positives. Negatives seem to stick with us more than positives. Congrats to those so far. I've always responded to benzos in low doses. Phillipa

My Adderall XR. It is masking my depression for now. Once I get out of this depression I will be able to stop taking it. I wouldn't be able to handle my job without it.

Well, oddly enough, I noticed a dramatic decrease in SA. Once was dx'd with social phobia, so that's great. What an awful feeling to be afraid of people because I need them. Yikes.
I'd say it's the combo of dexedrine and tramadol that has put it in, I guess, full remission.
I also have a pdoc that I love :)
Thanks for the opportunity to reflect a minute. It does feel kinda good.
Hugs, Phillipa

A almost 10 year pattern is difficult to break even if it's an intermittent as it is for me now. I should but I can't seem to...... It's puzzling.

Zyprexa going strong for 12 years now. Nothing can replace it. I've tried so many other concotions and nothing but zyprexa works.

Well, my pdoc did say that the tramadol might actually be working and not to dismiss it prematurely. He is my main prescriber, not my back doc. He can take some time to think things through, however he has nixed the savella and cymbalta for the time being.
Upshot, tramadol still works despite the cutback.
He also supports my beginning
involvement in a local hospital's weekly mbct group. I need a group because going solo is scary.MBCT has helped--though not a med.
