preventing nervous breakdown

For me, staying well is all about being able to quickly and sucesfully counter the effects of stress and anxiety.

I.e. suppose I am heading for a nervous breakdown. I can't even think about taking an SSRI, it could take weeks to help anxiety and really screw me up in the meantime (insomnia, worsened anxiety, agitation, activation etc.) As well, staying well for me is making it through the rough patches. When I am through those, I can manage on my own.

The medicaton I have been looking for my entire life is this: something that can **quickly** and **effectively** counter the effects of chronic stress

Some of the better agents in my tool chest are:

- cyproheptadine
- clonazepam
- green tea
- valproate
- olanzapine
- quetiaptine
- magnesium

These are some of the agents I can take to help reduce anxiety that *work* for me, and don't induce insomnia, agitation, or heighened anxiety.

I guess what I am trying to say is that quick and effective anxiolysis can literally be the difference between getting back on track and heading for a nervous breakdown. You know, meds that can get you back in the "zone" quickly.

Lately, the combination of cyproheptadine and clonazepam has been providing unbelievable as needed relief from anxiety, tension, insomnia, loss of appetite etc.

Link I agree and getting ready to post a thread on how the addition of low dose lexapro has made things worse instead of better. In my opinion SSRI's SNRI's any ad is more addictive than a benzo. I used to be fine on 10mg of valium and 25mg of luvox a day. I'll continue on my own. But seems like we are thinking similar. Phillipa
