Hello,
I started clonazepam 0.5 mg at night for anxiety. I took 3 doses. I don´t feel much less worry or anxiety. Does it take some time to have an effect?. Clonazepam has a strange effect different from the clear anti anxiety effect from alprazolam but the psychiatrist prefers clonazepam. Please tell e if the effect changes after some days. Thanks.

Hi Franz, it worked straight away for me. You're right it's very different from alprazolam, clonazepam is way more subtle.
I found xanax like riding a roller coaster for anxiety.

Maybe it is stronger and I need to adjust, but I a mnot liking it. I posted before I did not like it, but I want to do as the doctor indicated.

Klonopin worked right away for me but caused profound depression when I wasn't depressed. Taken off it. Phillipa

Thanks Phillipa. I told the doctor that I did not like it when I tried it at small dosages. he told me to take 0.5 at night. He says alprazolam is difficult to quit and clonazepam is better for other reasons. I accepted because maybe he was right ad I have to trust his experience, but it is not helping till now, I feel more like sleepy and flat than calm. Anyway next week I have an appointment. I hpe I adapt to it or find an alternative.

If you are experiencing daytime anxiety (and not insomnia), I would personally take the 0.5mg in the morning, or take 0.25mg twice a day.

Thanks ed_uk2010. I will divide the dose, 0.25 mg night and morning. I read the insert and this is what recommendsas a starting dose 0.25 x 2.
I am not sure why the doctor gave me the 0.50 mg at night. Also, I thought there was not much sense to divide the dose due to the supposed long action of clonazepam.
With the whole dose at night I feel anxious and depressed during the day. Let´s see how it works dividing it. I need this to work, not to feel worse than without it.

The duration of action is variable. It is frequently useful to take it more than once per day.

How much were you taking Phillipa?.
The doctor suggested to continue 0.5 mg at night for some days and see how it goes.

Franz it was strange. I'd been on low dose xanax and doc said substitute some xanax with klonopin so low dose and sitting there and out of the blue when I seriously didn't I felt suicidal. Hence called the pdoc who said It's the klonopin go off it and back on the xanax. I did and the feeling went right away. Phillipa

It is working better now. I take 0.5 mg at night.
The problem is that sometimes I wake up after only 5-6 hours which is not enough for me so later I feel sleepy.
One day that I slept very well I eat pasta, maybe carbs improve sleep, but I do not want to eat too much.
This is the end of the thread.
