My doctor prefers to start me on Emsam if I'm going to try a MAOI. Although I haven't heard much anecdotal evidence on whether it works well for anxiety disorders (along with the depression). Has it helped people on here or does it tend to hurt?

From what I have observed here on Psycho-Babble, and from conferring with my doctor, it seems that anti-anxiety effects actually precede antidepressant effects with Emsam.
I hope it works for you.

Sounds promising, my Dr said Emsam has less side effects than Parnate, but I could try both. My insurance does cover both however at the moment.

hello bearfan
I'm not sure if your anxiety disorder is similar to that I once had. I used to be extremely shy, skeptical, self-abased, and suffered insomina...3.5 years have passed since I made up my mind to try to thoroughly get rid of it...BY MEDS. And now I'm suffering from so called "Post SSRI Side Effect" which I believe is caused by ADs that I took. These SEs are making me even more anxicious and until now I have gotten no effective treatment to get out...How I wish I'd NEVER taken the meds. So, personally, I think it's much more advisable to try some no-meds therapy ...e.g. psychological consulting, exercise and nutrient supplements.
BUT do please keep in mind that this is only my personal opinion based on my personal experience , and may possibly be a wrong advice.

I've read on here and per my pdoc that Emsam is activating and if you search the archieves here a lot took a benzo with it. Patches can be cut also to customize dose so to speak. Phillipa
