Why a neuroleptic with all the side effects? Why not a benzo? Phillipa

I'm already on a benzo, I don't really want to raise the dose. I take 1.25mg per day.

I was reading that jasmine has strong anti-anxiety properties.
Problem is real jasmine essential oil is very expensive. But it apparently has anxiolytic properties without many of the side effects-- of course, who knows about the latter part. But that's what some recent studies show.

Phenergan (promethazine). I have seen it work for anxiety in someone for whom Zyprexa also worked, but produced unacceptable weight gain.
There are also Sinequan (doxepin) and Surmontil (trimipramine), two tricyclic antidepressants.

Corydalis, especially when concentrated to 80%THP, whatever that is.
Not to be used all the time, but it is humane. I like it.
Otherwise known as Yan Hu Suo.
You could get it at a fancy herb shop.
It does bind to GABA receptors though, and no doubt does all sorts of other things.

Have you tried Zyprexa? I took it at night and it help me with agitation and anxiety with little or no sedation during the day. You may only need 2.5 mg.
I guess you don't do well on even low doses of SSRIs like lexapro(escitalopram).
You could try a combination of natural remedies like GABA, theanine, magnesium, kava, holy basil, and ashwagandha. I doubt even taking all of these would help that much if you needed something like seroquel. Still, it's worth a shot especially if you find yourself transitioning to another drug. You may find that one of these works well as an adjunct therapy.
Man I hated Seroquel. I just don't think it's a very good drug. If I were to ever take an antipsychotic, it would be Zyprexa.
Have you ever tried intense exercise followed by a meditative stretch? It also may help along with whatever treatment you are using.

Propranolol (Inderal). It completely calms me down without any impairment of my mental faculty. You can't get addicted to it. You can get long or short acting. It's generic, and it's good for your heart. It works either on an as needed basis or a daily basis, and you can switch between the two easily.
