I read conversion of 6mgs equaling 60mgs, and other saying 120. Um, that's a big discrepency!
Although i don't mind that that xanax does not seem to induce as much depression as much as all of the other benzos, I'm simply finding that i'm still getting interdose wd, even with 2mgs 3x a day. Here comes the dreaded valium and taper. Perhaps with lyrica, and my false sense of well being, i won't hate life as much:)
Regards,
Brian

1mg xanax is equal to l0mg of valium so 6 is equal to 60mg valium. Lyrica is also addictive. Why you switching meds? Phillipa

Although dosing xanax 3x a day, I still get interdose withdrawal. Klonopin i am a depressed jerk on, who still get's interdose wd, so valium is my only option.
Lyrica yes, was the second most difficult med to come off, but if it gives me a shred of happiness, albeit false sense of well being, then so be it. A benzo alone, I am worthless, and can do nothing. In the past, at least with lyrica, i could somewhat function.
Trileptal, i'd rather not be hypomanic, and depressed the day. depkaote, i'd rather feel some emotion, not be super quiet, and have some functioning.
Honestly, I am SO chemically sensitive, it's almost a no win situation for me.

I know from my docs and different threads and google searches. Ashton isn't used by any of my docs. My pdoc never heard of her isn't it a UK thing? Phillipa

>Can't find a straight answer
You never will Brian. Although Xanax and Valium are both benzodiazepines, they are still different drugs and there is no precise 'equivalent' dose.
It would not be sensible to abruptly stop taking Xanax and replace it with Valium. The best method to transfer is to cross taper ie. to gradually decrease Xanax whilst gradually increasing Valium.

Thanks Ed. I have only been on xanax for probably a week or less now, so a conversion over probably wouldn't be a big issue at this point.
My dilema is this. I am taking 2mgs 3x a day of alprozalam. I do have a high tolerance from these drugs, and I am finding that even with xanax 3 times a day, my interdose wd is pretty bad, and even my withdrawal attempts are pretty brutal.
SO, I can go back over to valium, which i don't mind, although it seems to have much more depressive, irritable qualities and an overall watered down feeling to it than xanax does, or move over to the expensive xanax xr version, which i have no health insurance and limited funds.
I wonder in my case, if adding lyrica to valium, would make the depressive qualities less. Lyrica gave me more of a productive and semi euphoric state to it.
HHHMMM?

Sorry, I didn't realise.
The higher the benzo dose, the greater the risk of running into problems. I would not recommend taking more than 30mg of Valium per day.
I assume that Xanax XR is expensive. We don't have it here. Can you afford it?

The 6mgs would be appx 60mgs diazepam, right? I'm already hitting interdose wd. Last March, I did start a horrible taper from 30mgs diazepam, and in all honesty, I started it in pretty bad tolerance.
So I guess anything over 30 might be more troublesome, might be unfortunately necisary for me(

It's 2 weeks back on xanax now. I think for the first time today, I feel a slight sedation from the 2nd 2mg dose.
Still wondering to go to the XR version, or to switch to the valium or ativan. tough call.

I am terrified of crossing back over to valium, give my withdrawal history from it, and the watered down depression and irritability it typically induces.
That said, there is the interdose wd from xanax, although i feel no depression or irritability, i don't even feel an effect when i take 2mgs. Perhaps at a point to where benzos do nothing for me anymore.
I will have access to xanax xr very soon, if I want to try that over the valium?
Your input?

Hopefully, things will be different this time now that you're on Trileptal and Lyrica.
This is the end of the thread.
