negative symptoms of schizo... and depression

Posted by okydoky on February 15, 2010, at 17:00:08

Amisulpride helped a lot but too much prolactin. tremendously.
I see Levosulpride but it might bother my bladder disease more than amisulpride. Parnate helped tremendously but not any more. Ritalin helped a lot but not so much an more unless I stop it for a while but it wears off quick. I find coffee helps a lot lately.provigil made me enormously anxious.Requip nothing that I recall. I looked at the logs and found I was unable to take milnacipran and mirapex.(bladder stuff) I also tried cymbalta more times than I can count to no affect. I was thinking Abilify but I do not remember why. I apologize again for the forgetfulness and what might seem like inconsistencies. I know I should be looking this all up before I post but if I did I would never get the post written. Unless something else is suggested I am going to ask him to prescribe amisulpride if I can find the prescribing information for him. I have to provide documentation of the legalities to him and the pharmacy to send it to.

"I'm convinced that up until a year or two ago dopamine was the Cinderella of the major neurotransmitters. Now at last it's getting attention. I find it's essential to my recovery.

Besides those already mentioned, the following boost DA:

- Modafinil (Provigil, Alertec)
- Adrafinil, a precursor to modafinil, milder & longer-acting. Not marketed in North America, but also not Rx most places. Available in Europe & on the web.
- Requip (ropinirole). A pilot study (Can. j. Psych.) found it beneficial in combination with many ADs & moood-stabilizers. However it seems to be more active at the sedating DA receptors than the activating ones.
- Coffee in moderate doses <g>. "

I was reading something about glycine "http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/alter/20091202/msgs/930397.html"

I wondered if it might be something to try over the counter but what dose?

I need to get stuff together for my doc tomorrow about the law and allowing him to order amisulpride for me. (at 25-50 mg dose to start with one of the drugs for the prolactin)( I cannot remember the name but the doc was well versed. Please forgive me for being very vague in this post. I am having a very difficult time both thinking and retrieving words. Something about NDMA with all I have been discussing.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas to try. I have tried Effexor and am not able to take it because it causes pain in my bladder. I think God (If there actually is one hates me) Must have done something terrible in a former life.

The coffee is actually working better than the Ritalin which I stopped but I think I will become used to it and it too will stop working. I hope I can find where I saved the information about ordering amisulpride. If you know it please forward it to me. If anyone again has any ideas please let me know. I always wait until the last minute or even when it is too late. I can always see my doc next week or at some later time though. I just have no motivation. Looking at the negative symptoms of schizophrenia and what helps them seems to be helpful to me when I look at the drugs I have taken, my current symptoms and what has worked.

(I said I was not going to post here anymore. But as long as this sites members are of help I will continue to post, Unfortunately I cannot get on here often and only on the med site else I get very angry which is counterproductive. I wish I could this way I feel like I am using people on the site and it is not my intent. I did post several suggestions to improve (at least how I see it) the site and if I felt better would work on them myself. I hope contributing members on the site begin to take things into their own hands even if it means starting their own site. You can look for some of my suggestions under my name search. Although I am too ill to think critically well to do much of what I suggested or perhaps what others might suggest I am willing to do what ever I can do. If anyone would want to get it touch with me to help with my suggestions or other suggestions you can get in touch with me at
[email protected](instead of a name it will say interested))

I will shut up now:)

Thanks,

oky

Negative symptoms of schizophrenia, depression, I don't see a whole lot of difference between them. Subtle differences, but more in common than not. I think in the negative stuff there isn't the crying and despair of major depression, but all the rest is the same.

Milnacipran. You can prevent the bladder stuff with Flomax.

Amisulpride. Awesome med. The prolactin thing, and the frequent reports of oddball infections, are its weaknesses. Other than that, I am a huge fan of amisulpride. It has pulled me out of the gutter in less than a day on multiple occassions. Longer term use feels quite good...interested, very calm, more sociable, making plans again, no more dread. But geez, the prolactin or infection get me every time.

You've tried cymbalta more times than you can count. Me too! Funny. Well, not so funny, but you know what I mean.

You and I seem to have some things in common.

I'm also on amisulpride (solian), efficient but not enough and also prolactine problems. The Dr gave me Dostinex to decrease prolactine level, and I carry on taking Solian.

Hello, I have a question about Solian and Dostinex. At what dosage you're on both of them?

Dostinex doesn't reverse the good things in mood that Soliann does?

Thanks

I'm on solian 100 mg / day and dostinex 0.5 mg / week. I dont' know if dostinex counteract solian, because I just began the treatment last week.

Thanks a lot Sigolene,

I am also on Solian (25-50 mg/day) and can't take it much longer due to the elevated prolactin levels, I am bloated, kinda fatty and my breasts are enlarged (I am athletic, no bodybuilder)and besides this puffyness, my libido decreased dramatically to 0.I'll be very pleased if you'd post from time to time how the combo works and if you feel that Dostinex conteracts or not the goods of Solian.
I'm not sure but solian is an antagonist of D2 dopamine subtype and agonist at D3, Dostinex is an agonist at D2.On papers they counteracts one with the other in D2 subtype.

Thanks a lot for your insight, i'm looking forward for your posts.Be well!

I'm sorry I don't have time to go hunt for them right now, but I do recall reading two case reports on pubmed where dopamine agonists (one was bromocriptine, the other carbergoline) were added to amisulpride in order to lower prolactin. In both cases amisulpride continued to work without interference, and prolactin did come down.

While on paper it would appear a dopamine agonist and a dopamine antagonist would counteract each other, I think our understanding of things is too primitive. It just aint that simple. In any case, they did not counteract each other.

Two other reports involved adding abilify to amisulpride. In one case prolactin did come down, the other not. No interruption in amisulpride efficacy.

As far as I know, Solian is an D2 antagonist à high doses, but at low doses it is an agonist, that's wihy it's used for negative symptoms at low doses.

Bleauberry and Segolene,
Thanks for your responses, I did find some articles about adding an D2 agonist to Solian to interact the hight levels of prolactine. My breasts are already huge, I feel like i'm about to change my sex :)
Tomorrow i'll add a tiny bit of Bromocriptine to Solian and see what happens.Indeed, the facts about D2 agonism/antagonism seems to be different in real life than on papers.

All the best.

I had dostinex for 2 weeks now, and I can tell YES dostinex (to lower prolactine) counteract the effect of Solian. I lost the good effect of solian on negativ symptoms, ans feel really depressed. Conclusion: there med must not be taken togeher.

Huh, I'm very sorry for you. After reading about your trial with Solian/Dostinex and being also on Solian, battling with high levels of prolactine I found in my wife's cabinet a few pills of Bromocriptine.I tested the next day and took a tiny bit of Bromo, along with Solian.I a few hours, I begun to feel nauseated and generally bad (anxiety, nervousness).

I immediately felt the effect of Bromocriptine, I knew that because I did another trials with it in the past.Unfortunately seems that what's on papers fit the reality in our case.

Thanks a lot for your insight, Sigolene...

dose of the DA agonist? Low doses can work opposite of high doses, just like with antipsychotics.
