Seems like hormones could be connected a lot to both depression/ anxiety. New mothers, thyroid disease, libido, menopause, peri menopause. Complicated issue. But do those meds work forever for them? I don't know? Just thinking too much again

I've definitely notice a tendency to feel extra depressed and irritable at a certain time of the month.

Phillipa,
In addition to monthly irritation that Jane mentioned, and the tanking out at menopause (at whom's door I am knocking. Great.) I never felt better mood and energy-wise than during my pregnancy. This is at odds w/ many women's experiences. I think having so much progesterone?
Are you reconsidering hormone treatment? Are you currently supplementing?

Spironolactone is successfully used for PMT and dysphoria related. There is also a small study where Spiro is used to treat Manic Depression and is as useful as lithium. Spiro can be used as a hormonal treatment, I use it for alopecia, it works to increase oestrogen. I came off it cold turkey once and had a major period and spectacular mood crash - crying continually and slightly psychotic.

I also felt great when pregnant. Still using some of the bioidenticals and every search I do brings me to hormones for bones. BTW the osteo doc sent me a registered letter saying will no longer treat me as I didn't get the reclast IV. One week to decide on something so permanent is obsurd. I've read all the reviews seems younger women do okay and older ones bone pain, muscle pain, fever, all types of horrible things and there is no way to get it out of your system and no antedote. Phillipa ps so may yes pay and go the private route again and try them again for bones
