I have been off EMSAM for 1-week, after being on it for 5 weeks, with only two of those weeks on 6mg/9mg.
Is it possible/safe that I could go onto my next SSRI (Celexa) sooner than the two week wait?
I know the two weeks is "standard" but I can feel my serotonin drop from leaving the EMSAM and would like to start Celexa ASAP.

I was told 10 days. But some docs are more cautious and wait two weeks.

specifically, when going from an MAOI to a SSRI?
Thanks for the feedback.

I was going from Ensam to parnate, another MAOI. But I don't think it matters in terms of washout. Ensam is an irreversible MAOI and they have to wait long enough to give the brain time to form MAO again.

I would not advise this...at all.I switched to Anafranil from nardil after around 16/17 days and had a pronounced 5HT syndrome.
Stay safe...

My doc said to switch to Celexa after one month, an I still had some minor side effects. I've also read about celexa medication on http://www.celexamedication.com , they state almost the same.

This is according to some rather old data, but some of the best work involving MAOIs took place in the 1970s and 1980s.
