Some job changes triggered my GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and atypical depression. My pdoc has me on 45mg of Nardil, 50-75mg of Seroquel and 2-3mg of Klonopin. When I saw him last week, he added Lamictal. I have yet to start taking it, but am feeling a little better after bumping my Seroquel up from 45mg to 75mg about 10 days ago.
1) Any theories on why my pdoc added Lamictal?
2) Would you go ahead and start Lamictal even though you're feeling a little better on an increased dosage of Nardil?
I just hate to keep adding medications. I am a walking medicine cabinet as it is now. Thanks. Mike

Why not hold off on the Lamictal. I found it way to stimulating. You are not on a lot of seroquel but it sounds as if it's doing the trick and you'd rather not add more if you don't need to.
Good luck with the new job or new responsibilities.

Why haven't you increased the dosage? Also, you might want to go up to 100mg on the Seroquel. For many people, the more they take, less the somnolence and the more the antidepressant effect.
I don't know why your doctor opted to begin treating you with Lamictal. You should ask him. He might know something we don't.

Well glad your're feeling a bit better. Agree I'd hold off too on the lamictal unless you're doc thinks you need a mood stabalizer? Phillipa

Scott, per your suggestion, I am going up from 45 to 75mg. I weigh 250 pounds, therefore it seems like the right move. As always, thanks for your help.

You might want to stay at 60mg for a few weeks, if for no other reason but to ease the body into getting used to side effects like the lowering of blood pressure. Nardil is a strange drug. The more you take, the slower it is metabolized and eliminated. The difference in bioactivity between 60mg and 75mg is greater than between 45mg and 60mg. It is more exponential than linear.
Good luck.

I took lamictal & nardil for 2 yrs-- stopped taking nardil 3 wks ago but am still on lamictal.
supposedly, sometimes anti-seizure med's seem to help with depression, and lamictal is one such drug.
IF you're feeling alright though, maybe stick it out for a little bit without the lamictal. like you said, it's no fun to be a walking medicine cabinet.
This is the end of the thread.
