Lamictal has helped me enormously with depression and doesn't cause sexual side effects.
It's a bipolar med but it can be used off-label for depression.
I've tried almost all the ADs out there and almost all cause sexual probs (lack of orgasm in my case). Remeron is the only other one that seemed to be ok sexually but it made me sleep and eat a lot....

Yes, I agree Lamictal works I took it before for off label ad. Thing is I had these memory issues, but I was on zoloft, lamictal and lipitor for cholesterol. Lipitor is said to cause amnesia. I just want to make sure Lamictal won't make me stupid. Another thing, My pdoc probably won;t use off label stuff he is just a PCP.

S H A G was censored??!!! WOW, is this a hardcore christian site or something? Me very confused. How could someone be offended by that term? Are we allowed to say penis and sex? Are we not all adults here?

Umm, they want you to believe Lamictal is a clean side effect free drug, but it is faaaaar from it. Lamictal made me and others feel like we had MS. Lamictal depletes your body of folic acid, an essential nutrient. It also bind to the melanin in your skin and eyes. They admit on the information sheet you get when you first start it that they have no idea if this melanin binding will have a toxic side effect in the long term.
Lamictal has helped me enormously with depression and doesn't cause sexual side effects.

tianeptine (Stablon)
nortriptyline (Pamelor) TCA
imipramine (Tofranil) TCAThose don't have sexual side effects. Stablon is generally a "mild" antidepressant though for most folks, but has the least number of side effects.
Old-school TCAs don't seem to have sexual side effects, but they have some cardiac side effects.
If you plan on taking one of those, have an EKG and regular blood levels taken and always inform your doctor about what OTC medications or supplements you are taking as they can interact with TCAs.If agomelatine (Valdoxan) makes it to the US, you could try that too.

I think it is going to be unrealistic to not accept any sexual side effects while being treated for psychiatric problems. Even with meds that usually do not have those side effects, or have pro-sex side effects, the opposite can happen. Example, me and Wellbutrin or Deprenyl equals a sexless life. My sex actually wasn't too bad on Prozac. So go figure.
You can't predict these things but you can try to put the odds in your favor. Two meds I've dabbled with that had no or minimal sexual side effects were Nortriptyline or Parnate.
Paxil was devastating to sex. Zoloft kind of bad, not devastating. Same with Lexapro. Prozac was the friendliest, and with Zyprexa added was friendlier still. Someone else, it will be different.
I think part of the battle is accepting that there will be a cost to pay. If your depression is 90% better than it was, and your sex life is 30% worse, that is not a bad price. We would all like a perfect world. Sometimes it happens, but I don't think it is realistic to expect it.

Which SSRI besides Prozac is least likely to cause loss of libido?
When I was on a low dose of Prozac, my libido went from normal to absolute zero. I had no interest in women or sex at all and the bad part of it was that I am married.
If I had to put a number on it, I'd say it decreased my libido by 95%. That's not a bad thing if it is temporary, but considering having to be on these drugs for six months to a year or more and having no sex drive.. it can be devastating to your spouse.
Some say Lexapro has less sexual side effects. Others say Zoloft.
Some take a combination of Requip (ropinirole) with an SSRI to get their libido back.
For some people though the loss of sex drive appears to be permanent (Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction, PSSD). :-(

My loss of sexdrive and ed issues are chronic(not necessarily permanent as in forever) from lexapro and Pregabalin. Whatever reassurences you get from your psychiatrist, I still say don't f*ck around with your sexdrive. This side effect comes from neuroendoctrine changes to your body, it can take a long time to reverse if it can be reversed at all(without meds anyway). I know from now on I'm gonna play it safe with psyc drugs without side effects. I'm only 22 so I'll probably have my share of sex in the fure, by I know that I should be having a great deal more sex than I currently do, I'm a very handsome though depressive young man.

10 or more years on SSRI's and SNRI's- all eventually pooped out on me..... Haven't tried cymbalta, pristiq, or remeron yet...... SSRI's all helped at one point- some better than others..... Libido is GONE now!

Trazodone, Buspar, Remeron, Emsam (Selegiline patch), Mirapex, Wellbutrin, and testosterone (yes it's an antidepressant) are generally the prosexual antidepressants.
