From a friend who self medicates with marijuana:
"Oh, I don't judge anyone for taking medication for depression. But I could never do it myself."
Sweet.

In regards to me asking my dr for a sleep med to help with the nardil (he rx'd me) insomnia:
Dr: "You're over-reacting myco, go home and rest"
Me: "doc how am I supposed to go home and rest when I can't sleep"
Dr: [half a smile] "ok go home and just sit there"
lol I can still feel my hands wanting to tighten around his neck.

"let us never forget how much of your suffering is due to your hormones." (As in female hormones) - that was from one of my first therapists.
Seldom.

"If you ate more fruit and veg and exercised you'd feel much better."
Not saying anything wrong with living healthy but the idea that somehow I can consciously cure my illness with just more "effort" irritates me tremendously.

What would you like to take that you're comfortable with? Love Phillipa oh and one said just take the pill and go. Doesn't make sense if you're out of it. Did that once hit a mail box with car.

from another friend
"you don't need more pills"
maybe I don't, but I didn't come to the decision lightly, and they don't know what it's like inside my skin

"Have you tried chamomile tea?"
I have seen 2 sleep specialists who have not been able to help me and at the time this was said to me, I had been awake for 68 hours because I was so depressed and anxious that I simply could not sleep.
My response was "I am WAY beyond chamomile tea!!!"

Well, no one needed to complain in this case. This woman I used to know just blurted these things in general conversation, if being stressed, "depressed" "nervous" or whatever came up.
Some things said in group settings where I was present:
"No one NEEDS pills for depression or any of that - we're all a little psycho and it's better to be that way anyway!" (think it was supposed to actually be kinda funny and kinda to make others struggling feel better - but it didn't always go over all that well...)
(speaking of some third party...) "SHE is a real psycho - get the Prozac - quick!"
"OMG - one day she was one person, then the next day, another - it was crazy. She was totally schizo."
"I don't believe in ADD. I would *never* medicate my child - never mind myself. We're all ADD. It's just society and people letting their kids run wild with too much caffeine and sugar."
Sigh. Entitled to her opinions, of course, and actually a really kind and decent young woman - just not well-versed about MH in general and not conscious of what she was blurting, and how some of thoat could come across and trigger others to feel...
Later in the relationship, when we knew one another better, I actually told her I'd been on Prozac, about depression and suicidal feelings, and also that *I* had adult ADD. Also, about how giggling and saying others are "psycho" or "schizo," that maybe those terms are said as 'harmless slang,' they could really hurt. I think I also told her about schizophrenia NOT being a "split personality" (how long has THAT misconception going to hang around...?!) I must have somehow been given the right words to say, without attacking her or being condescending (thank you, God) because she listened and apologized - and kept speaking to me!! Maybe there is hope....

At 400 mgs of Seroquel I was vomitting, my head felt like it was about to explode, my lower legs were cramping, I was shaking uncontrollably, my throat hurt so bad that I could hardly swallow and I was lethargic. So I called pdoc to let him know what was happening.
And he said, "These aren't side effects of the Seroquel. You're just being a baby. Stop being so stubborn. If you would quit resisting the med, it will set you free". (What!!!)
Ended up in the emergency room that night. Afterwards, he never called to check on me. I looked up Seroquels side effects and everything I was experiencing was under the "dangerous side effects" section. I never took it again and called him and told him to kiss my *ss.

I´m not really depressed but fatigued all the time, with huge headaches and not being able to sleep at night. Today just came from the neurologyst that said "this antidepressant will help you with the pain and the fatigue" amytriptilyn... All of them make me zombie like all day!
