It seems that Concerta does not have the "wake-full" properties as Adderall would have, however in recent years Adderall, even without tolerance runs through my system about at fast as coffee, this feeling the need to take more of it to get me through a new day fully awake, as opposed to taking more just to get a "high". Since Vyvanse uses enzymes to metabolized it to D-Amphetamine over a slower period of time and allows it to gradually build up to its therapeutic effects in the brain, is it possible that Vyvanse may work much better that Adderall, but not giving you to "high" but actually last all day (12-16 hours). FDA has approved Shires new Adderall XX/R which is supposed to last 16/hr day for adults with ADD. But it's not on the market yet. Doctors and myself are reluctant with Adderall for me anymore because it works just too fast and too short, even with the XR. Therefore the question is, is Vyvanse significantly different that adderall in terms of it;s laster lasting effect. Emsam also really helped me because it seems that Selgiline converts to L-Amphetamine (although not D-amphetamine) but it also did help with Narcolepsy related motivation and energy issues. However being an MAOI, I cannot get the therapeutic benefit of my other medications because some of them are contradicted. Thanks-Jake

I do like the pre-caution on the side of my Concerta bottle. "may cause drowsiness" You would not think at first of it being a CII substance. I think new generation X/R type stimulates exp. Concerta could in my opinion be moved to a CIII substance.

Vyvanse is l-lyrosine combined with d-amphetamine, which causes a delayed onset, but also gives a "slow release" mechanism.
The only thing Vyvnase stay in your system more longer, and if you take another dose the next day, you can have problems.

Hi Rj- Do you mean taking another dose same day could give you problems-or does Vyvanse actually last long enough where it's an "every-other" day dose?

no.....Vyvanse is really "wierd" when i took it.
It takes about an full hour to start working, unlike the other stimulants that work within 15-30min, after ingestion.
The L-lysine, it's a chemical attached to dextroamphetamine to "slow" release it, so even if you take "more", your just going to have bad bad side effects, paranoia, irritiblity, thoughts that are wierd, mainly it's because it stays in your system (d-amphetmaine) but......it's already been metobolized, but it's still there, so it can cause more side effects than the "Standard" stimulants do, (the amphetamine class) Dexedrine, Adderall, Desoxyn
By the way...
Dexedrine is just "dextroamphetamine" it helps with dopamine function and speeds up mental thinking...motivation, percisitance to whatever your doing.Adderall is "dextroamphetamine" and "levoamphetamine" mixed with other types of amphetmaines, so adderall is more of a "speed" drug, but it does benefit more aspect's than Dexedrine, in Levoamphetmaine causes more attetion, and vigilence, keeping you alert, motivated, and awake.
Desoxyn is...M-Amphetamine, it's basically just methamphetmaine in a pill. Rarely used, it's a strong form, produces more effects in overall. It was used alot in 70's and 80's for weight loss, but too much abuse, and it was marked "bad drug". But i've read many articles, which contratict....saying it's more smoother, but stronger than dextroamphetamine.
I dont know.... all i know is i will not ever take Vyvanse again....
Spansules are much better, less side effects, "direct effect"
