Just wondering.....I hear conflicting evidence. Internet sources indicate increase in risk for Serotonin Syndrome, and TCA toxicity. One pharmacist sez no worries while the other sez 'no'. p-doc doesn't know.

> Thanks.Combining TCA's and SSRI's is very common. I took 100mg of Imipramine with 20mg of Paxil for years until Effexor came on the market. This combination worked well.

Thanks Polarbear. My allergist wants to use doxepin for my hives, apparently it's a kick-butt antihistamine too, so I wasn't sure.

> MarkOh yes, a small dose like 10mg is a major antihistamine, it is the only one to fully cover H1 and H2. My mother has iatrogenic angioedema and takes doxepin as well as Allegra and Zantac. That fully covers H1 and H2 twice.
You will probably be slightly hammered by the doxepin if you've never taken strong antihistamines but that should go away in a short while -- it is used for sleep but people can get used to it, hence my statement.
