Just wondering if anyone knows by what mechanism an SSRI, specifically lexapro, can cause my blood pressure to drop as it has. My usual pressure is 140/100 but the lexapro has dropped it to 119/77. I'm only taking 10mg per day. It seems anything i take is causing my blood pressure to drop but before it was only the AD's that effected noradrenaline that did it, seems as though the SSRI's have decided to join in.

The Ultimate Natural Antidote to Low Blood Pressure
Get
1. licorice - buy it in 1ounce or 2ounce dropper bottle (tablet or capsules optional)
3. Power Bar Recovery Sports Drink - Recovery powder packet (speeds muscle recovery and rehydration)
Contains 1060mg sodium/liter! + key electrolytes for rapid rehydrationInstructions
Take one Power bar packet Mix it with 16 fl oz of water. This will make 2 cups.
Then take the licorice and use the dropper and squeeze four-five drop of licorice in the two cups.
Thats it.
Sip on the drink, if blood pressure is really low make two power bar/licorice packets per day.
(you can buy all contents online)

Hi,
MAOI's are known for lowered BP, don't know if the reasons are the same as SSRI's. My BP was always in normal range until I started Parnate over 3 weeks ago. Its been outside the normal range since. I was running 80's over 50's for a while.Tiring.I'm looking at my chart and your new numbers are actually closer to midline normal, your old BP, 140/100 is bordering on high/normal. Seems both BP's are fine unless your getting side effects. I'm sorry I don't know the actual mechanism by which either type A/D lowers BP. I'll be talking with PDoc about this subject on Monday, if I find out anything useful I'll post it to you then.
Good luck! Jade

Mav acturally that's great as normal BP is now considered under 120/70 or 80. Maybe less anxiety if you were anxious. It'a a great BP unless there are medical conditions why some doc would want you borderline hypertensive. Sounds like something good is happening. Love Phillipa. let me see if I can find the ranges for you.

Perhaps a decreased level of constant anxiety due to the Lexapro treatment? My BP is very sensitive to my level of anxiety (GAD).
