Is it really that much better? My pdoc seems to feel strongly that the side effects are less bothersome and that it's more effective. Thoughts? If so, why would that be?

^^^ That's not a very good conclusion that you pdoc made. The side effects may be less bothersome for SOME people, but not everyone. I couldn't tolerate Lexapro because it made me so nauseous. You might respond to it differently. Are you not happy with whatever med you are currently taking?

celexa and/or lexapro have been the only truly great medication experience for me
the side effects depend on the person
for me the trade-off was a no brainerthere was an eventual med meltdown (as there always is for me)or i would still be taking it
of you do try lexapro set up your schedule so that you can keep moving and active for the first week or two
so, that's how it worked for me
i have a sister who has been o zoloft for 20 yearsi tried it and hated it
hope you find a good med match
and a better doctor
