I am newer on this sight, and have posted a few times. I weaned off effexor 2 weeks ago, and started on 50 mg pristiq. My last 2 weeks of weaning off effexor left me very depressed and anxious. Which the first 2 week on pristiq have been leaving me very anxious and depressed. So what is your opionin? I know I probably should give this med more time, but I feel like I'm slowly dying.

i personally am not a very patient person but i know they say it can take even up to 4 weeks to see full benefits.
i personally think that two weeks you can kinda tell. but with you weaning off another it might make it harder to tell, what's withdrawl symptoms too.if you can hang in one more week i'd do it. otherwise give that doc a call. in fact i'd do that anyway and see what he/she says.
maybe they can augment it with something in the meantime? if you're on anything else maybe they can bump that up a little?i just started pristiq also, can't say i've noticed a whole difference but i have noticed something. S. thoughts are gone. (FINALLY)
and that's only four days.
but your coming off Effexor which is what i wwould see as much stronger than pristiq....??so point being hang in there, call doc, augment if can.
best wishes
b2c.

Thank you, I did call the pdoc, yesterday I had such suidical thoughts that would not go away, and I felt so depressed and anxious. He did call back, (which was so nice) and put me in to see hime today.
I agree that I think effexor is much stronger, and even though I haven't taken any effexor for 2 weeks maybe I'm still feeling withdrawal effects.
I also take remeron 45mg and clonazpam but I feel like I'm not on anything.
The other feeling is such a fear, I dont have a job right now and I feel so afraid to go back to work. does anyone else feel this way?

sorry you are in such a state. i had no idea it was that bad.
SOOO glad you called pdoc.about the fear. i have a job, but when i'm in that state i have fear about even going to it. afraid i'll mess up, afraid i'll say something to someone to get fired, afraid i won't say something and get fired. afraid to go to work, afraid not to...etc.
i want to curl up in a ball and freeze and not move. sometimes it gets pretty bad.
xanax helps with that. pretty well though. and my trusty zyprexa also.

It makes me feel better to know someone else has that fear also. I have always been a good employee, but when I'm like this I feel as though I can't even do the easiest thing. I do make myself do it anyways.
I did go to my pdoc and he gave me abilify 5mg to help with the "S" thoughts. He said this is fast acting and I should get some relief in a day or so.
Thank you

I was abilify last year for about 6 weeks. I think I did much better just on 5mg. At 10mg I remember feeling agiated, and I remember crying. So He took me off it. I seem to have a lot of problems with antipsychotic meds. Which limits me.
I can't seem to get rid of the anxiety on these meds. Were a lot of people on Seroquel think it is wonderful. It just made my hair fall out.
I can take more of my clonazapam, but I'm scared to because trying to get off it is harsh.

My Dr. told me he has found that Pristiq does NOT seem to help with Effexor withdrawal.
Maybe, still experiencing w/d without effects of pristiq kicking in yet?
Just a thought.
I hope that you start feeling better soon!! =)
