I am on 2mgs of klonopin at night and I am supposed to take it every night no matter what. I normally am not a drinker but tonight i went out with some girlfriends and had some mixed drinks like more than a few. So here I am tipsy and typing a message to y'all. I am a little freaked out about taking the klonopin with the alcohol in my system but then I hear other horror stories about people having seizures after missing one dose. Any advice

Hi,
I'm on 0.5mg every night. Sometimes I've not taken it at all. Sometimes I've gotten bored & taken 5mg with no ill effects (just sedation the next day).
I used to drink a lot of vodka & orange juice with all my meds nearly every night. It definitely had an additive effect, but nothing drastic.
So I say if you've missed it before & had no problems, then just take 1/2 the normal dose. You can always take the other 1/2 when you wake up :)
I don't believe that "quite a few drinks" plus 1-2mg of clonazepam will kill you. I'd be very surprised. You'd be dead of course so it's your decision ;)

Just saying: even if you were going to experience withdrawal sequelae from not taking klonopin, the alcohol itself, as a GABAergic, would hold this off for a time.
Benzodiazepine withdrawals are nasty, but severe, life-threatening toxicity like seizures are generally only seen with an abrupt withdrawal from extremely high doses, which 2mg klonopin is not.
This doesn't constitute medical advice of course.

Thanks so much for the advice. You guys are awesome. I feel like a 40 year old newbie.
turned out I just crashed around 3:00 and then my kids woke me at 6:30. :( Grrrrrrrr
So, I took the 2mgs then. Good thing I just boosted to 300 mgs of Wellbutrin yesterday. There is at least a little chance I will be able to be awake on 3.5 hours sleep, a little hungover and then a healthy morning benzo dose whichI have never had in the morning before ... unless it was like 8 years ago and I was having a panic attack.thanks to you both. I keep thinks 2mgs is like this HUGE dose because before the most I had ever taken was .5. It is nice to hear it really isn't that tremendous of a dose. I know I need to take it for one more month to make sure my Celexa withdrawal doesn't cause any rebound panic or anxierty. (Been in remission from that nightmare for 8 years, so the thought of going back cares the s--t out of me.) Hence the two month Klonopin stint.
Thanks again,
Jamie
