I know this sounds strange but I went on Topamax for weight loss along with my other Bipolar 11 meds( which I was fairly stable on) and started to cycle. Didn't connect the two but that has to be the variable. Does this make sense at all. I'm going off of it so we'll see.

I'm on Topamax as well (for migraines) and haven't had a problem with cycling. My moods have been pretty stable (minus the time I was on the evil drug Tamiflu which depressed the hell out of me). Maybe it has something to do with the dosage you're on?
Topamax is supposed to have mood stabilizing qualities according to my doctors, but I won't swear to that.

Actually I was reading the PDF from the Topamax website and it does say "Topamax can cause depression or mood changes" so maybe I not off base even though its rare

I've heard of hair loss and kidney stones but not cycling. Strange. Love Phillipa

Wow!! I didn't know that. You may be right on point with it. I need to read info a little closer.
Gives me something to look out for now. What works for one may be a completely different ballgame for another. Or it may have yet to rear its ugly head for me. Yikes.

All I know is that I tried Topomax years ago and it made my eyes water like I was crying only I wasn't crying, but it looked like it. It also made me depressed.

I took Topomax years ago and it "stabilized" my mood as "rage"
I was yelling at people on the street who got in my way. I live in NYC so that was a lot of yelling. i had to stop the Topomax. I always wonder how great "mood stabilizers" would be if we could preselect the mood in which we would remain

yes. i think any moodstabilizer can have this effect. i was on Trileptal several years ago and it did this tremendously.
i was on 50 of Topamax and it didn't bother me, but my depression was cutting through so i upped my Topomax and guess what, i've noticed minor breakthrough cycling. nothing severe (yet) but enough to notice.so yes. and i would tell your doc ASAP. there could be a dosage adjustment or an augmentation that could fix it.
best wishes
