Hi, I am currently on my 8th week on Lamictal. I am up to 250mg and notice I am sleepy during the day. Is this a side effect from Lamictal and does it eventually go away?
I am still wondering if I even need this med. I was taking wellbutrin, cymbalta for depression and had a meltdown, I had been doing gerat on it for several months. I personally think I got better and the antidepressants worked against me. I got taken off of those immediately and put on Lamictal for possible having Type II Bipolar. I wished the DR would have let some time happen to let the other meds wear off before putting me on this. Anywho about the sleepiness has anyone else expereinced this and did it go away?
Thanks!

Are you new to babble? If so welcome if not my mistake but an unfamiliar name. I'm sure although I was on a very low dose of lamictal that someone with bipolar ll will come along and be able to answer your question. Phillipa

I take 300mg of lamictal (among other drugs) and it doesn't seem to matter whether I take it at night or during the day. it's one of those rare drugs (for me) that is neither sedation nor activating (stimulating)
I hope this helps
welcome to babble!

This med saved my life when i was suicidal. I was very agitated to start with but it soon calmed down after a month or two and now, 4 years on, i am on 400mg that still works for depression.

Either it is unrelated for me them or I need more/less. I went from 200 to 250 and I am tired during the day, hard to sleep at night. I don't seem to have mood swings. Just tired and irritable a lot.

I'm working my dosage up slowly. I do seem to become more tired when I initially increase it, but it seems to go away.
If you can't sleep at night, maybe ask your dr. for a sleeping med until your body adjusts to the lamictal.

I went up to 250 two weeks ago and it doesn't seem to be going away. How long does it take for you to adjust?
