Has anyone had long-term improvement in anxiety with Tenex or Lyrica?

I was on Lyrica for over 2 years. It definitely helped me with anxiety, sleep, and I think it was a bit of an antidepressant for me too. But there were problems. I gained tons of weight and had edema, lost cognitive function, and it was a nightmare to discontinue. I would take benzo withdrawal over Lyrica withdrawal any day. On the other hand, some people have had no problems discontinuing. I was on a very high dose though.
I don't know offhand what Tenex is.
Hope this helps.

Do you feel a very low dose of lyrica like 25mg would take the place of l0mg of valium? And not cause weight gain. Thank you Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,
I think it would be hard to figure out a conversion dosage, but if I were to guess, 25mg Lyrica would be WAY to low to equate to 10mg of valium. As to the weight gain, I doubt 25mg/day would cause much of any weight gain if any. Just my opinion.
I was taking 600mg/day at peak. That would be equivalent in my experience to much more than 10mg of Valium but hard to say how much more.
Lyrica and Valium act so differently that it would be really hard to compare. There is literature saying that pregabalin might be useful in easing benzo withdrawal, but I have never seen any estimation of equivalent doses. But it did help with my anxiety and sleeping. It was a real tough one to discontinue. The withdrawals were so, so, so bad... But I guess part of it was that I was at such a high dose.
Philipa, great to see you back posting! We all missed you.

Thank-you glad to be back. Since the valium doesn't seem to work well maybe lyrica is worth a shot. Since I'm so med phobic I'll try a very small dose to test the waters so to speak. Phillipa
