Posted by your#1fan on November 1, 2007, at 22:20:37

i read all about it. Its an old thing on the periodic chart, blood tests...... no thanks.

I dont want to try abilify..... and i have heard of Geodon but thats for psychosis right?

I just have intese mood swings, and once and a while my mind wont "shut up" its going on and on thinking about like a lightnigt fire, goes in a million places at once, think of that in an hour....thats a billion places at once. Well its not that bad..........i was just trying to give you a description, usally i get manic around 3:00pm, and then about 12:30am at night again, well its not bad mania. It feels good, i guess that means there dopamine running through my syspse.

Any suggestions?

I have a few suggestions, although I'm not sure you're going to be interested in any of them.

First, why are you writing off lithium? Is it because it's a naturally occurring element? Or because you'll need to have blood tests done? The blood tests will be about twice a year once you're on a stable dose.

The two suggestions I have for you, though, are these: find a good therapist, since I think therapy would do a great deal of good for you, and get onto a mood stabilizer which works more effectively for you. Your posting patterns here suggest that either the Zyprexa isn't working very well for you, or you're altering your consciousness in some way on a regular basis. I suspect it's more likely the first of those. If your current psychiatrist isn't able to get you stabilized, I think it would be in your best interest to get a second opinion.

As far as mood stabilizers go, I think your best bet is probably lithium, as it's the one with the best track record, really the gold standard for mood stabilizers, but if you are unwilling to consider it, then perhaps Lamictal, or Depakote? You'll excuse me, but I know little about mood stabilizers.

And I am going to ask you a personal favor: please don't make jokes about me and cowboy hats, or whatever it was you posted on Social.

yeah, dont throw lithium out the window before you even try it. i felt the same exact way as you with all the baggage it comes with...it almost has a stigma of being this ultra hardcore last resort drug because of all that. actually being on the periodic table was what really had me thinking. if you try it out and it works i know you will be glad you did, many people it works wonders for.
