to me and I really thought it wouldn't. My dr. said there are so many people online who exaggerate, etc. Well, let me tell you after 7 weeks on 60 mg (dr. had me as high as 90 mg at one point), I am SOOO glad to be off this.
I felt like a zombie for the 7 weeks...Sleeping excessively, emotionally numb and became a total hermit. I didn't want to believe it about the weight gain but it is true. NOTHING fits me and it must be 10 lbs or more all around the mid-section- a place I don't usually gain weight. Now am day 3 off it and constantly dizzy and feel bloated as anything...Had to leave work at noon and lie in bed all day.
This is TERRIBLE.
When do the withdrawal symptoms start and when does this weight come off? I work out 90 minutes every day and have all summer! Has this rx completely lowered my metabolism? Thanks!

Hi
Sorry you are having a hard time. Maybe you should check out the withdrawal forum and see what others have experienced.
I'm sure you will lose the weight soon.

Thank you, M. I hope I lose the weight. It won't seem to budge! Thanks- didn't know the withdrawal forum existed...Looks like it is filled with Cymbalta withdrawal posts. This drug should be off the market as far as I'm concerned!

First, if you've only been off Cymbalta for a few days, don't worry about a few pounds -- they'll go over the next couple of weeks. Daily weight fluctuations are generally water, not actual weight. Women vary by an average of seven pounds over the course of the year, the month, whatever.
Also, while I'm sorry that you didn't have a good experience with it, Cymbalta has been a very good drug for many people. I'd just like to remind everyone that mileage varies, and most of these drugs are good for someone out there.
Good luck.

Also at one time I could take 60mg no nothing then the second time 30mg was intolerable but never had withdrawal effects. Just stopped it. Both times. We're all different and I think hormones play a very huge role. Phillipa

cymbalta was not good for me and withdrawal was horrible. I was on it for 6 months and has taken me another 6 months to begin to feel normal. The weight is because cymbalta usually causes you to crave sugar. Eat protein with every meal and you will see a decrease in cravings if you have had them. Most people have cravings with cymbalta are those that gain weight. I didn't until the last three months. More so when I started tapering off. The cravings were bad then. All I wanted during my taper was sweets. Not chocolate but candy. The is a website that can help if you need it. I will have to remember it since I changed computers and it was bookmarked on my old. It helped me get off cymbalta and lose the weight too. The protein suggestion came from the website. Something Radiance. Let me think about it. My neurologist says the problem with cymbalta is affects three different chemicals in the brain and most people don't need those three altered. She doesn't like it prescribed for that reason. It is one of the most tricky of AD's on the market as far as she is concerned. I had to see her because it caused me to have absence seizures. Which apparently is a side effects that happens often. She says ADs in general can do this often with cymbalta doing it more often. Funny that isn't in the literature the doctor gives you. anyway, you can lose the weight I did, just drink water and eat the protein and give yourself the same amount of time you had to gain it, don't try to do it too fast. It will come I lost mine. Cymbalta can affect the hormones and we all know what that can do make you gain too. Now that you are off everything will equalize. RK
