While I love the great sleep I get on Risperdal, I'm concerned about the way my heart races and the palpatations sometimes.
I'm wondering if Trileptal would be a safer add-on to my antidepressant?

Sheila does your doc know about the palpatations and is your heart okay? If so are you using the respidol as a sleep aid, antipsychotic, or stabalizer as trileptal is a mood stabalizer . What's your diagnosis? Love Phillipa

I have BP II. I can't take Lamictil - bad reaction to it. Last night I tried 150mg of Trileptal and so far, no heart palps.
I read in the side effects for Risperdal that heart palps and such can be side effects. I can't deal with that. I don't want to feel like I'm going to have a stroke or heart attack. Besides, I think (I don't know) that maybe the anti-seizure meds like Trileptal may be safer than the anti-psychotics.
Also, Abilify and Risperdal gave me such water retention. I'm sure taking Estrogen dosen't help that either. But, maybe Trileptal will help with that and I won't get the water retention (salt retention) that I do with the anti-psychotics.

Sheila definitely safer and I've been on trileptal with no side effects at all. And I usually hear good thing about it. You can go to the archieves and google it too and see what other posters have experienced as seems like there is not much going on today on babble. Love Phillipa
