My pdoc likes a long acting and a short acting ben

My pdoc says that since my basis problem is anxiety she wants me on a short acting benzo as well as a long acting one a a pseudobenzo for sleep. She's an addictions specialist written for Jama. And in the 35 years of benzo use I've actually cut the doses. As when things are going well in life I automatically cut them down on my own. Love Phillipa

So would you take the long acting just at night? Or would you take one during the day & at night and then the short acting would be for when you needed more anxiety relief?

I don't remember if you also have a mood disorder. If so, do you think the benzo helps with your mood?

I'm just starting the long-acting Xanax tomorrow and hoping maybe it will make a difference.

My pdoc said to use the small dose of xanax if needed during the day but truth be told the valium holds me the whole day. Love Phillipa so no benzos during the day for me.

I take IR xanax - it has always worked for me.

I take .5 mg in the am, then .25 in afternoon, and .75 at bedtime. But I have gone at least 9 hrs. between doses with no problems. Often in fact, especially if I am very busy, I just forget. Then I start to get slight w/d sx. (feeling a bit anxious) and that reminds me to take .25.
