Hi,
Several years ago, I had posted about my trouble with ADD meds and the "crash effect" they have on me. I still have the same dilemma -- whether it's Ritilin, Adderall, Provigil, Dexedrine, short-acting or extended release. The meds will give me enough energy and motivation to get through the day, but they also cause stress and anxiety. When they wear off, I have a severe crash, often to the point where I feel flu-ish, and have to go to bed.
I am wondering if there is anything relatively new out there that would still give me the energy, motivation and focus, but not the stress, anxiety and crash at the end. I have tried Stratera, but it makes me tired and woozy.
I am also taking Prozac (10 mg) and Klonapin (about 1 mg, usually at night).
What is Cylert? That's a new one I just heard mentioned.
Also, would Abilify help ADD? I have tried a very low dose of that along with Prozac on two occasions, and both times I found myself tackling projects that had been sitting for months, and not putting things off as much. HOwever, it does seem to cause me heightened anxiety. I was actually taking 1/8 of a 5 mg. pill if you can believe it, and it seemed to work, but I think still increased anxiety. I tried Seroquel, but slept the entire weekend on that one.
Thanks so much for any insights you can give me! My dx is complicated: ADD, anxiety and depression -- most likely not BPII, but perhaps some of that ... I cannot tolerate any moood stabilizers (have tried them all).
Some doctors think the ADD is the main culprit that causes all the other dx's of depression and anxiety ... that is why I would love to get the ADD under control somehow.
Thanks to all for any help, insights, advice, etc.!

Cylert is Pemoline and is associated with severe liver toxicity. I believe it is no longer available in the US due to this. Peace...Saturn.

how are you dosing with the ADD meds timewise?
This is the end of the thread.
