I've been searching the web for information as to whether it's OK to combine the two, with no luck.
Anyone know?

I had a horrific experience the time I combined oral selegeline with it, but other posters suspected it was adulterated. I'm not so sure though, because I was the only one with a problem that night.

Well, I took marijuana with Parnate and again with oral selegiline and had no problems. I also combined Parnate with speed and had no problems.

I probably reacted to speed or other substance that the pot was soaked in. What I experienced did have considerable resemblence to what a hypertensive crisis sounds like- though at the time I was freaking out thinking I had a serotonin syndrome. I had travelling very, very severe headache, (mostly at temples), rapid, pounding heart which would slow down and speed up, and paranoia. Oh yes, pretty stoned, too. I probably should have taken myself to a hospital, but again, I was too paranoid and indecisive. I survived-don't wish to have a repeat though.

I would be very careful. MAOI's can potentiate the good and/or the bad. In particular, MAO-B inhibition will prolong marajuanna induced dopamine release.

I have trouble believing that much good has ever come out of marijuana. I know several people who used it for anxiety and reported the same cycle:
relief of symptoms, positve experiences (like a sense of 'coming out of a shell' ), dependency, then decline in cognitive function.
The 2nd part seems to last long enough, and can be profound enough that it's very hard to face up to the decline in cognitive function.
I think its an insidious thing. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

You just gave what could so easily be the most accurate and concise account my own experiences with prescribed benzos and SSRIs there Edwin.

It's risky yes. I started using speed just over a week after stopping Parnate in tiny amounts under my tongue (to make up for Parnate's stimulant effect that I'd started to miss). I decided to keep on taking small amounts to help me over the afternoon slump when I started Parnate again a few weeks later and had no problems. There are quite a few people who take stims with MAOIs, but obviously of the pharmaceutical grade and at specific doses.

Weed is fine with any drug, it potentiates alcohole allot and can cause anxiety but its all in your head you simply have to take deep breaths & relax etc.
Ive taken amphetamines with MAOIs to but recommend extreme caution & don't do it orrally.
I even took some ecstacy (just a quater of a pill) along with allot of other stuff,, but then woke up in hospital hehehehe.
Next day I had another quater & it was nice,, got really tired though

The pharmaceutical grade almost killed me but Ive smoked a good amout of quality meth on a high dose of Nardil and was fine, well not fine but good,
Its still just a stupid thing to do because its extremly hard on your heart & veins in your brain.

I agree. There is no way to decline cognatively than on combinations of SSRI's benzo's and AP's.
All my friends in university smoked a little week to take the edge off exam stress. They did fine. I had to do it the legal way with combinations of benzo's SSRI's and AP's. They all came out ahead which is suspicious since I did much better than those of them that went to my highschool.

Well one thing about marijuana and meds is that unless you are close and welll-aquainted with your primary source, you just can't be sure it hasn't been adulterated with who knows what. Speed? PCP? Formeldehyde? No joke- I once had a coworker who was in a drug trading gang, and she was very open about how their product was "best" because of this "enhancement".But I smoked regularly for a number of years, and in retrospect, I have to say it didn't do me any long term favors. I was very emotionally volotile at the time, and never could get my act together to improve my circumstances, complete many projects, etc. That kind of stuff just didn't seem important. And I finally discovered, as I tapered away, that smoking one night tended to lead to an emotional crash a day or two later. Not sure if that's just me, or a backlash from being quite high. But when I think of it, benzo withdrawal can bring on anxiety, stim withdrawal can bring on fatigue--seems plausable that marijuana withdrawal could bring on defalted mood. If that is true, it would seem to indicate that smoking it might not be a super idea if depressed. (?) In any case, not a chance in h*ll I would risk repeating what happened to me last time with the selegeline.

thats what I think. Its not the pot that makes someone psychotic, its the speed in it. A study on that would be interesting.
