I get this from a lot of meds ... a headache or an aggravation of spinal injury.
Currently began Lexapro and awaken w/ pain in neck, across shoulders, and up into head, or headache.
I have C2-3, 3-4, 4-5, and 5-6 disc extrusions.
I am unable to take any HRTs that are oral re: get headache.
This too happens w/ diff' psych meds.
Anyone have a theory about this?

BTW, I don't know how some of you are able to follow up posts in such a timely manner.
I am not able to sit here for too long a stint. I need 'a break' and this isn't an excuse, it's a reason ... my neck/head gets to hurting if I hold it in this one position too long.
Also, I am mountain time, and think more of you may be ending your 'babble day' when I am just 'beginning' it.
New AD, Lexapro, sleeping till noon and as in prior post, causing headache.
Anyway, I truly, from the bottom of my heart, apologize, I'm sorry, when I do not follow up more promptly.
sincerely, 5f

Do you get migraines? I found that many SSRI type meds cause headaches as does oral HRT in people prone to migraines.

SSRIs can cause muscle tension in some people. I invariably get tense neck muscles which cause a tension headache as well as jaw pain. Any SSRI will do it to me.
I think in people who have preexisting cervical issues, any tightness in the paraspinal muscles, in particular, can cause problems.
Another SSRI may work better for you, however.
Good luck.

Tks cairo. I thought there might be something going on re: the med. Hadn't had much pain prior to beginning it.

Migraine?
My father had migraines alone and separate from any other pain.
B4 injured my back and b4 got glasses, I had migraines.
Now, w/ breakthrough pain (my med stops working once in a while) I have very bad headaches. Migraine? Not sure.
Pain is up the back or all over my head.
It's when there's bulging disc material pressing on nerves, and usually I can feel it in my neck and across my shoulders as well, sometimes even down my arms.
I don't know that this would be called a migraine.
Sometimes PCP will try to get me to choose.
He'll say, .. where is the pain?
I'll say its up the back of my head or my whole head.
I should mention this to my P, though I doubt he'll have much knowledge of SSRIs and the CNS.
