Hello all. I halfed my haloperidol last night, feel a lot better today no where near as much brain fog. I cant wait to get off this damn drug!!! oh yea, on 2.5mg as aposed to my normal 5mg dosage.
Now I need to find a new antipsychotic, anyone have any sugestions? My pdoc wants to put me on clozapine (I've been on every other atypical around and they didnt really work.)
I've been on Largactil(Thorazine) before and that was not much fun so I dont want to try another phenothiazine if I can help it.
Is Clozapine so bad? I can deal with the weekly blood tests in Hospital I'm just worried more so about the risk of seizure and myocarditis.
Maybe I should just dope myself up with benzo's and pretend the voices, paranoia and delusions arnt there hehe. Actually Im quite well at the momoent when Ive been bad I havent been able to use the net because I couldnt type coherant.
Any suggestions would be great thanks and It would also be awesome to hear from anyone on a typical antipsychotic.
Thanks and take care

if your symptoms are minor and you can get away with it, you could do worse.
also have you tried:
* antihypertensives such as clonidine;
* beta blockers such as propranalol;
* Alpidem;
* some painkillers like morphine or tramadol;
* barbituates; and
* even methodone might be able to knock over your psychosis?APs are much more toxic than all those, and who knows they might just work for you. who said being psychotic meant you had to feel bad?

I wish my pdoc would perscribe me morphine.
My psychosis stops me from leaving the house much because of the paranoia but the voices and halucinations drive me crazy.
I dont want to go on clozapine :(
Take care

Hi Alien
How are you doing on haloperidol 2.5mg? I do think you will feel better than you did on 5mg, although maybe not straight away. 2.5mg will still have quite a pronounced effect because haloperidol is highly potent. Don't reduce the dose too quickly though or else you may have withdrawal symptoms and feel worse!
Love
Ed

I have not taken it, but hear good stuff about it in the paper, etc. Perpenazine, its typical AP. No weight gain.
Clozapine is I think the most powerfull AP, but may have a lot of bad side-effects. I think that is the one that gave me TD where I would constantly swallow. Still do that a little.
This is the end of the thread.
