Hi all. I'm new to the board and wanted to post something. I have been a long time reader of your posts and must say this is a very unique community. One in which I am happy to now be part of.
I am currently weaning off of 15mg/day of Paxil and have started taking Zoloft. I just started taking 100mg/day of Zoloft and 10mg/day of Paxil as my body adjusts to the new medication.
Surprisingly (a pleasant surprise at that!) I have been LOSING weight since I began the Zoloft! And I haven't even been consciously trying. This is so awesome for me as I am shall I say, Horizontally Challenged. :)
I am wondering who else has experience this and if it lasted or if it is just a passing thing. Also I am curious as to whether or not you believe this to be caused by weaning off the Paxil or beginning the Zoloft. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone. I hope and pray you all are well. Take care and God Bless!
Sincerely,
CA 2 NJ

Hi. Welcome to the board. For me, Zoloft was somewhat stimulating. But Zoloft, Prozac, Effexor and Celexa all had a tendency to reduce my appetite. I was only ever on Paxil for 2-3 weeks (it increased anxiety) so I really can't compare it with the others. Perhaps the Zoloft is making you feel well enough that you don't do as much comfort eating or perhaps well enough to get about and do more?
Hope this helps.
Marsha

> MarshaHi Marsha and thanks so much for the warm welcome! :) And of course thank you for your reply to my post.
I too find Zoloft to be stimulating which has seemed to be a bit of a challenge with my anxiety issues. But at the same time it seems to be helping it. Slowly, but steadily. I anticipate the anxiety to lessen as my body continues to adjust to the Zoloft.
Maybe the Zoloft is helping my appetite as well as my metabolism as it does seem to be more activating than the Paxil. Whatever the reason, I am happy and hope it continues! :)
Paxil is sort of sedating to me so I welcome the stimulation of Zoloft as I have some energy, but as I mentioned above it has seemed to increase my anxiety as of late. But I expected it as I am weaning off the Paxil and know the symptoms of Antidepressant withdrawal. Luckily I have a great psychiatrist who is weaning me off Paxil as I increase my Zoloft instead of just switching me from 1 to the other.
Thanks again for your reply and I wish you all the best! Take good care and God Bless!
Sincerely,
CA 2 NJ

Yes, for me the Zoloft weight-loss was long-lasting. I went off of it & am back on it, but I don't see it producing the same effect this round.
This is the end of the thread.
