I have literally tried every AD on the market

Posted by PhoenixGirl on August 7, 2006, at 9:12:42

Yet still I think about suicide. Since I was 13, I've been on ADs, and I'm 28 now. Tried all kinds of combinations, lithium, anti-anxiety meds, you name it. Even had 30 shock treatments. Right now I'm on Cymbalta and Klonopin.
Throughout it all, I've had almost no close relationships with anyone. That's what makes me with I was dead. I realize now that no pill will make the pain of that go away.

You know that will get you nowhere. You'll only rise up from the ashes again anyway!

Lyrica might be an interesting thing for you to keep an eye on. It might make for a good augmentor with an MAOI. Did you ever try Neurontin?

Is there any bipolarity involved?

Wellbutrin with Lamictal? This looks good for bipolar depression.

I'm currently giving sibutramine (Meridia) a try.

Lamictal 150mg
nortripyline 100mg
sibutramine 10mg (target dosage to be 20mg)
Abilify 10mg
Topamax 100mg

What is your diagnosis? Have you tried all or any of the mood stabilizers or any of the MAOIs?

The good news is that there is some medicine out there to help you. The bad news is that it usually takes trial and error to find it. My heart goes out to you.

Just know that hope prevails. New meds are coming out all the time, including Ensam recently.

I don't mean to belittle the distress you must have felt when you were 13, but I feel so sorry for people whose ordinary hellish experiences are treated with a lifetime of medication. It can't be good for growing brains.
At any rate I'm sure you will find people here to have relationships with, maybe even close ones (I have).
And you can work. You're a reporter (or is it a journalist, what's the difference) right?
But I certainly don't want to sound overoptimistic. Maybe my tianeptine has kicked in?
