There is some risk of serotonin syndrome using two serotonergic agents, but I have no idea how great the risk is. I would suggest using one or the other.Todd

It's not a logical combination, Effexor is a very potent serotonin reuptake inhibitor - combining it with an SSRI doesn't make sense. It would probably be better just to take the Effexor on its own (or Celexa on its own, but it sounds like you've already tried that).
What dose of Celexa are you taking? For how long?

No Ed. It is a very logical choice. I am on a combo of Effexor and Cipralex. It works great. I need some stimulation from an AD, but i'm not able to tolerate more than 225 mg of Effexor. So 10 mg of Cipralex comes to the rescue. Bye.

I felt really good for a few days when I was swiching from celexa over to effexor. After a few days it waned. I figured it was due to having some citalopram left in the system.
I personally found effexor very noradrenergic, since I had a significant increase in pulse and blood pressure at just 75mg.
Some people may just need a different ratio of ser/nor.

i had been on celexa 40 mg for many years,it is good for depression more than anxiety,i have tried effexor before,it was good for anxiety but week for my depression, when i converted from celexa to effexor i felt much better as some dose of celexa was still in my body.i am thinking wheather the antidepressant and anxiolytic effect of both celexa and effexor will be additive when they are taken in combination?

OK, but for *most people*, it wouldn't be a logical combination.
This is the end of the thread.
