hello
does topamax work the second time around for weight loss? i just started slowly at 12.5mg. i hope it does something...any response is greatly appreciated.

Yes,I know it's used for that purpose. But I don't think anything can counteract the weight gain from say, Zyprexa.
Just my 2 cents. (and they are Canadian cents, so they are worth less than yours!)

Several people have had success using amantadine.

Amantadine has been reported to prevent the weight gain associated with Zyprexa (olanzapine) treatment. You can find several abstracts regarding this on Medline. Amantadine is both an antiviral and an anti-Parkinsonion drug. It has NMDA antagonist properties and perhaps some poorly understood pro-dopaminergic properties. I know someone who successfully prevented their invariable weight-gain associated with Zyprexa treatment by using amantadine.
