I am surprised the generic does not work--this is avery ommonly prescribed drug--if your local generic is not working get a new script and try one of the reputable on line pharmacis that may offer the product of another manufacturer. Or try the original generic again. I know there is debate about the relative efficacy of generics vis a vis patented products--good luck fca

not one bit surprised ANY generic of deseryl doesn't work.
my therapist, formerly a psych nurse, 2 nursing degrees, etc. INSISTS folks ONLY take brand. deseryl is the only med she feels this way about, btw.
i also finally have 3 pharmacists at 2 different pharmacies that DO admit (shhh!) that generics are not always as effective - and NOT limited to deseryl; not lmited to which generic company you investigate, either. prozac is another good example where no generic may be as effective.
really stinks re: no advance warning! i'm so disgusted of late that i'm not surprised by much of anything. bms did not disclose all re: new emsam patch, either. not just bms, as all manufacturers are in it for the $. also don't believe this is limited to the manufacturers, as i'd now also include many inventors, researchers, and pdocs.
not that long ago i was naive and refused to believe any of this. reality - they very often do the least possible to make the most profit. re: manufacturers, you'd think billions would = more concern.

Hmmm-this makes me wonder if the real Desyrel would have worked for me when the generic didn't-trazodone was one of the few meds that had no side effects for me (until I got up to really high doses, then it had tons). Too late now, I guess. My HMO automatically supplies the generic if one is available, I'm not sure you can even get the regular for a med that has a generic even if you're willing to pay the extra copay for non-generic drugs. So many people here have complained about generic clonazepam not working as well as Klonopin that I asked my pdoc about it, he gave what I could tell was a set speech he'd probably given a thousand times about how he had patients that were on generics, switched to brands, and complained to him about the brands not working as well as the generics.
