Hi. I am looking for fresh perspectives on how people found Lamictal to be for them overall.
At what dose do you feel it stabilized your mood? What are you or were you taking it for? And if you took it alone or with another drug, such as an AD? I would also like to know how people found it to be with their appetite and cravings. Do you feel overall you lost some weight on it or put weight on? Last question I promise.. How long have ou been on Lamictal? Can't wait for the feedback! Hope everyone is hanging in there.

> At what dose do you feel it stabilized your mood?
I increased to 300 mg in March, this has been most effective. I started feeling positive effects around 50 mg
> What are you or were you taking it for?
Bipolar 2
> And if you took it alone or with another drug, such as an AD?
Supplemented with 0.5 mg klonopin for sleep for a while. Now it is lamictal monotherapy
> I would also like to know how people found it to be with their appetite and cravings. Do you feel overall you lost some weight on it or put weight on?
I find it weight neutral.

I just recented started and stopped lamictal midway as I was getting an uncommon sideeffect of increased salivation wierd huh? I thought it was from the aspertame in the diet drink I had just started but the phmacist looked it up and it was there as a side effect. Also a few mouth sores. So at 50mg the doc dc'd it until he sees me tomorrow and reevaluated me. I need something and would like to try it again. Love Phillipa good luck. Oh it's wt neutral from what I've heard.

I had high hopes for lamictal but it was not for me. It had immediate antidepressant effects, which 4 days later turned into a half hearted suicide attempt I felt so bad. It was a roller coaster ride. Heavy side effects too, with severe leg cramps, severe increase of fear and anxiety and startle response, and loss of libido. I never made it past 25mg.
For more perspectives, type in the google search box "lamictal depression remedyfind" or "lamictal bipolar remedyfind".

currently at 150mg. I have been on it for a month and a half or so. I am supposed to hit 200mg in a couple of weeks. I am taking it for BP. I have not had appetite changes due to it. It does make me a little racy I think due to the antidepressant effect. I think it really kicks in as a mood stabilizer at above 100mg. When I bumped up from 50 to 100mg and from 125 to 150 I had a little but of itchiness that didn't go beyond 24 hours.

> At what dose do you feel it stabilized your mood?
150mg, but I gradually increased it after then to 400mg. Now it is pooping out on me.
>What are you or were you taking it for?
BPII
>And if you took it alone or with another drug, such as an AD?
On its own.
>I would also like to know how people found it to be with their appetite and cravings. Do you feel overall you lost some weight on it or put weight on?
I started it while I was pregnant and after I gave birth I quickly returned to my prepregnancy weight and stayed there.

I love Lamictal for the first 10 days - it was wonderful, but then I started getting weird mouth ulcers. I had to stop - it felt like my teeth were going to fall out.

Trish were they bad? And by any chance did you have increased salivation? And the pdoc was going to put me back on it but when I said no to 80mg of geodon and I'm not psychotic he refused to treat me and accused me of taking luvox not true. Geodon starts at 20mg why would someone want a starting dose of 80mg? And I liked the lamictal too. Did you pdoc say what the sores were? the ones I had were like small cancer sores. Love Phillipa

Mouth ulcers can be a sign of hypersensitivity, on the spectrum of mild Stevens-Johnson syndrome, without the other features like fever, rash etc. I don't think you should EVER use it again.

I told both my old pdoc and new one that I had sores in my mouth too. The new one I used to see is around 70 years old and has only seen one case of SJS. And she said you would definitely know if you had it as you would have a rash from the neck up and fever. She had it happen to one pt and all they did was stop the med. Nothing dangerous and antibiotics cause it too. So she started me back on a starter pack of lamictal. Love Phillipa

I know that with people with mild rashes (and myself with itching) you can often escalate the dose more slowly and everything goes away. Perhaps it is the same way with the mouth sores, but since they occur in conjunction with SJ just be careful if they recurr after continuing with the Lamictal.
Hypersensitivity reactions are a bit unpredictable with reinsitution of the offending agent. Good luck! I really did well on Lamictal.

DID well? Are you no longer on it, and why?
I have been on it for 1 year for BP 2 or 3. I don't notice ANY side effects but have treid many other drigs with it which had side effects so it is possible it was Lamictal all along. I am wenaing down right now to JUST Lamictal. Has ANYONE had any succes with JUST that for BP2?
blessings
mary (PS: weight loss-after zyprexa was gone-on Lamictal)

Mary I think he inferred that he might have gotten or was close to getting Stevens Johnson's Syndrome. But I don't know as I've seen him post before. So you're going to try lamictal by itself? E-mail about it as I'm back on it and want to hear more. Wt loss!!!!Love Phillipa
