Hey, I was so happy that I was feeling better off the Prozac. But then it hit ... deep suicidal depression.
It was nice while it lasted.

I'm sorry to hear that.
Some people experience a rebound improvement when an antidepressant is discontinued. Try to think of it as a demonstration that your brain is still capable of working right.
I hope Parnate works magic for you. You might want to begin thinking about using dosages in excess of 100mg if that should become necessary.
I truly hope that something positive comes of this. Have you made a list of things you might want to augment Parnate with? I like to keep a few steps ahead. It helps me to preserve hope.
How did you react to Wellbutrin?

Yes, it's a good sign that I did experience an improvement. I don't know what I will augment the Parnate with. Wellbutrin makes me psychotic. I take tryptophan, can I still take that with Parnate?

Hi Maxie
I'm sorry to hear you're feeling awful again. Are you still taking Mirapex? What dose?
How long have you been off the Prozac? The long wait before staring Parnate must be terrible.
Love
Ed

Hi Ed. I stopped taking the Mirapex because I felt no improvement at 2 mg a day. I'm stopping the Trileptal now. It has been 3 weeks since I've been off the Prozac. I don't intend on waiting the full 5 weeks. I will start at 10 mg next week.Yes, this is very hard.
Love
Maxie

Maxie think of how parnate helped you in the past and making that list and doing research now will help. Love Phillipa

Here is what I found out about MAOI's and tryptophan.....
"nutrient affecting drug performance: Tryptophan
Caution should be used when taking tryptophan while using monoamine oxidase inhibitors since its effects could be amplified. Tyrosine, phenylalanine, valine, leucine and isoleucine all compete with tryptophan for transport into the brain.
(Goff DC. Am J Psychiatry 1985 Dec;142(12):1487-1488; Pope HG Jr, et al. Am J Psychiatry 1985 Apr;142(4):491-492.)"So it sounds like tryptophan is a no-no. Why do you take it?
Hugs,
JH

Did it continue to cause hallucinations?

I take it because I am anorexic and I don't get enough tryptophan in food. In order for the prozac to work better, i needed Tryptophan in my system.

I was taking tryptophan because I am anorexic and not get enough tryptophan in the food I eat (don't eat). The tryptophan was added to help the prozac work better. But I would like to continue taking it because it helps my sleep cycle. Maybe I just wouldn't need 80 mg of Parnate, maybe I would only need 60 mg? I'll just see how it goes.
Thanks for your help.

Maxime, you have me a bit worried. Out of all the MAOI's Parnate tends to activate and can cause weightloss. And since you are anorexic to begin with...well, it just has me concerned. Why not Nardil?
Hugs,
JH
