I'm on 300 mg of zoloft and 45 mg of remeron. I'm wondering if this is enough remeron to block the stimulation of the 5-ht2 and 5-ht3 receptors. It seems like it is working. If I was on just 15 mg of remeron the stimulation of the 5-ht receptors by zoloft would overweigh the antagonism of the 5-ht receptors by remeron. DOes anyone else take remeron with an ssri and what doses of each do you take?

If it weren't for the weight gain I'd love to try out mirtazapine. Good luck.

I took Remeron with Paxil for about 3 very good years. I need high doses, therefore my remeron was at a whopping 90mgs, Paxil was high also like
70-80 mgs. The combo worked very well for me. Paxil alone was ok, adding the remeron really
made a huge difference. Good Luck..i think 45 rem. is high enough to block 5-ht2 & 5-ht3, it's sounds like it's working for you. :)Tyler

Hi. I am on Lexapro, 10 mg in morning, and Remeron, 15 mg at night.
This seems like a good combo for me. I think it works better than just lexapro alone, though of course it is so hard to tell sometimes. It seems to give me an extra grounding if that makes sense. Also, though I am not sexually active in my relationship, I do think that with Remeron and Lexapro combined, I feel more romantic and passionate than with just Lexapro. But I don't know if that is just the power of suggestion from my pdoc saying that Remeron can offset low libido caused by SSRIs in some people.
Remeron does make me hungrier, and I have gained a couple pounds, but by writing down everything I eat, I have managed not to gain large amounts of weight. It's a challenge but I am hanging in with Remeron. I am still not considered overweight. The munchies are the only problem I have noticed.
P.S. I am a woman, and relatively petite, so I think that why those relatively low dosages work for me.
This is the end of the thread.
