Hi,
I'm a one-year abstient abuser of "illicit" stimulants. Amphetamine with an extra CH3. Here's my current situation: I'm on lamictal, titrating down from 1mg bid xanax, and trying out serzone. I take clonidine at night to keep from having nightmares and to improve my sleep. I also take vitamins including centrum, calicum, zinc, vitamin C, and Coenzyme Q-10(?). I've read that vitamins can interfere with nefazadone.
My problem is, while the lamictal is working very well for me, I am not liking the serzone very much. I've heard that it takes a couple of weeks for people to adjust to it. While it helps me sleep, I feel extremely anxious and affectualy flat during the day, not like on the prozac. My diagnoses are OCD and ADHD or Bipolar type II. (the latter more likely). I had hopes for serzone because the prozac makes it difficult for me to focus and I finds leaves me at a deficit of motivation. Also, my nipples hurt.
I know that serzone is a norepi reuptake inhibitor as well. Based on the board's general knowledge, should I: A.) Be patient with the serzone, or B.) be patient with the prozac and titrate upwards more slowly. The prozac *does* work for me, but my focus is almost as important as my mood. Propranolol 10mg helps with my akathasia, phsyically, but not so much cognitively.
thanks,
-idolamine
P.S.- I also feel slight chest pressure, and it sometimes seems breathing is difficult. And abdominal pain.

P.S. 50mg serzone, 125mg lamictal, 0.15mg clonidine, 0.5-1.0 mg xanax.

And how much of the prozac ? Something is being left out because there shouldn't be akathisia on those doses of medicine under normal circumstances unless once is also taking an AP ? Perhaps agitation from the clonidine. Also, I assume your doctor has discussed the FDA directive of Serzone and liver disease and is monitoring your ALT functions. Though 50mg is a fairly low dose of Serzone so that may not be necessary.

no akathisia on those dosages of those medicines, but on prozac- yes. 10mg prozac. Much worse at 20mg.

Bristol-Meyers withdrew the patented formulation in 2003.
There appear to be a half dozen generic companies which still market in the US post 2003, from looking at the FDA list.
I believe they are all required to carry a black box warning about liver disease and transplation incidents.
It doesn't appear to be completely discontinued since you can still see it on the list (generic) at Wallgreens.com

That's affirmative- from everywhere but the US. Mine is supplied from Tevau. I'm adding it to my substantial private collection of psychotropics, as it made me extremely jumpy. James.
