Is Depakote good for mood instability? I'm finding conflicting reports, some saying it only helps reduce long-term highs and lows, others saying it does help with mood lability.

It sounds like you are asking about the potential for medication to reduce mood swings that occur several times a day - mood lability. I never looked into Depakote for this situation, but there is some indication that Tegretol and Trileptal can reduce mood lability and improve impulse control and behavioral dyscontrol. Combined with Zyprexa and psychotherapy, these drugs can help with conditions such as BPD and pathological aggression.
