I have been taking Restoril for about 5 months. 30mg
It has a calming effect, slight mood elevation, drunk like effects.
Temazepam 30mg + 5mg of Clonzepam will cure any insonmnia. It will knock the HELL out of any insomniac.
NIGHT EVERONE

Where do you get all these benzos from? I know you've commented a lot in other posts about the different ones. I wish I had access to the various benzos for comparison. I want a doctor like yours. Does your doctor prescribe these for you, or do you get them somewhere else?

The reason for prescribing the Restoril, in May i had SEVERE INSOMINA, i had sleep deprivation for about days, i was falling apart. I told my doctor that the Ativan that i was taking wasnt helping. With stimulant insonnia becuase i was studying for exams. He increased the Ativan to 6mg daily, nad Restoril 30mg. At night i would take 2mg of Lorazepam and Restoril 30mg. Ativan didnt help my anxiety, we moved to Klonopin 4mg, then 5, then 6mg daily. But i dont take it that often becusae it makes me depressed, severely if a panic attack is not around.
My mom would argue about it, he told her to hush, then she started figting with me, and he said OK, he wrote a script for Restoril.
Thats it, my doctor is in his 70's. Having good communication skills helps.
Best hope to you.

The Ativan i was on before the 6mg of klonopin, i was on 6mg of Ativan. You can look at my posts on the post search engine and find what I wrote about Ativan back then.
I told my doctor i thought i was losing my mind, i had could not calm down, I would get severely agriated, what do you think is wrong? I am i crazy? He said no, Started me on a low dose of Zyprexa (antipsychotic) 2.5mg, and Ativan 3mg daily, then 6mg, after i started having SEVERE panic attacks.
Just more put.
Having to know what to say, but dont mention what you think you need. Have good communication skills, and being prepared what to say helps.

My doctor is pretty generous with such things; Gave me a 6 month supply (refills) of 60 .5 mg's of Klonopin, followed by a 6 month supply of 30 mg's of Restoril... followed by a prescription for Xanex for panic attacks (.5 mg's).
I'm a drug hord. I don't actually take the pills, but I get the refills and then keep them in my cabinet for "when I might need them."
I am so ridiculous. I suffer with horrific anxiety when I have a cabinet full of meds FOR anxiety.
It's like I'm trying to prove to myself that I don't need them while I am staying miserable.
It makes no sense.

I think it makes sense Spriggy. The relief is there if you really need it, and you won't get addicted/whatever to them.
Best of both worlds.

You said you where cutting down but i guess you had some stress so moved back up to 30mg. Ha.
Used to take
Lorazepam (Ativan) 2mg
Temazepam (Restoril) 30mgwhen i had severe insomnia and sleep deprivation.
For me Stimulants (Dexedrine) are more of a relief to me becuase i feel "in control". Like a lady keeps her Xanax in her purse, I keep dexedrine near me, when i think im so scatter brained i usally take it and i feel calm and focused.
Anyways, i just wanted to know how things where going...

I think once you've experienced horrible untreated anxiety you get a phobia about being that way again and hoarding antianxiety meds makes you feel like you have some sort of buffer against ever having to feel that way again.
I actually told my pdoc I did this and he siad it wasn't unusual. I think there was a thread here on this board a few weeks ago about this same subject. Lots of us do it. You're not alone...

You're right. My pdoc is incredibly compassionate. At one appointment, he asked me how many Klonopin I had left. I told him about 10 even though I actually had about 20. I was just afraid of running out (in case of a plane crash or a hurricane or something, you know?). So he gave me a new script for 60. After I left his office, I felt like I had to tell him the truth so I went back to his office, asked for him and he came and brought me back to his office. I told him the truth and told him why I had lied. He told me it was okay, he understood. And he understood why patients with anxiety would do that. He's a great guy.

Marsha, you do indeed have a rare gem of a doctor. I don`t think most doctors understand anxiety at all. I think they can relate a little more to the concept of depression because it seems more "disease" like, but they just see anxiety as an annoying personality trait. They have no concept, for example, of the overwhelming terror some of us feel just going to see them. We get no credit for all the things we do every day despite being terrified. (I`m going to have to keep that in mind because I certainly don`t give myself much credit either.) Cecilia
