I did so well on Wellbutrin XL but was told I cannot take it after gastric bypass and I am not sure why. I am taking the SR which does not help as much. And I wonder if both XL and SR go through stomach so fast that I should just go to plain Wellbutrin. Anyone with any experience in this area?

Hi- sorry I don't have the answer. But I will be interested to find out why. I mean what if suddenly you developed high blood pressure, would that mean that wouldn't be able to take meds for that? I wonder if it's only certain meds.

I don't know if this will help, but I had a friend who had a hard time tolerating the side effects of many antidepressants. Anyhow, her pdoc suggested that she take them um, vaginally. Now I have no idea why or how this would work .. but it did. Something to look into.

Could it be they removed the part of your stomach that the meds are absorbed from? Or maybe they would irritate it. Interesting question. Fondly, Phillipa
