Sinking fast

Posted by linkadge on October 3, 2005, at 16:49:05

I am sinking terrably quickly. I thought that maybe I could avoid depression in school for a little while at least.

I don't want to take medications, becuase of the dammage that they appear to have done.

If I found a doctor who cared, it might be a different story.

I just don't think it is possable to find a medication that helps ones depression and doesn't cause significant cognative retardation.

It must be the air here Link. I am sinking lower and lower as well. ((( Link )))

What do you know about the hospitals here? Have you ever been admitted?

I care about you Link.

Hugs,
Maxie

I've been admitted to grand river hospital thrice.

Um, they're ok, I guess. A little slow about getting things done, but kind none the less.

Now that you are both in the same provience are you going to get together? And I don't think it's the air in Canada I think it's everywhere. Fondly, Phillipa

I've noticed my memory is much improved since I got off of Prozac and got on Cymbalta. My head feels clearer, Have you tried Cymbalta?

In this case we actually live in the same area. But just because we are in the same province doesn't mean we are close. Have you seen how large the Provinces are in Canada?

When Link and I are ready to meet we will. Right now I am not up to it. Getting out of bed is an Olympic event for me these days. I am not sure how Link feels about it right now, but that is how I feel.

Hi Linkadge,

I realize that how YOU feel about yourself and your abilities is the most important thing, but I just want to mention that here, on Psychobabble, you always come across as VERY smart and cognitively intact.

Well, Canada is slightly larger than the United States and we have 10 Province and 3 Territories. You have 50 States and Alaska is the largest. Alaska is 570,374 square miles. Texas is the second largest at 262,840 square miles.

Quebec is the largest Province at 595,391 square miles and Ontario is the second largest at 415,598 square miles.

So consider this - Quebec is 2 and quarter times the size of Texas. Not all of it is habitable mind you.

Betcha ya didn't know that about your neighbours to the North, eh? ;-)

Oh I forgot to mention. Now you have to Babble Mail me with some fact about the U.S. so I learn more about your country. We can go back and forth and then we will both be really smart. Maybe, just maybe as smart as SLS (Scott) ... but we are going to have to work really hard.

Link,

Sarah is right, you are certainly very intelligent. Do you think you are doing the wrong subject at university?

I was wondering whether you'd consider taking methylphenidate again. I remember you found it helpful a while back.

I hope you can meet Maxie soon. I'd like to meet you both :)

Warm regards

for a lot of people it takes TONS of trial and error to find subject and profession of choice- i have been through the ringer w. my husband on this - dont let this play into your depression. ((hugs)) it is very frustrating i know - esp for my hubby - we have three kids - so a lot of pressure there for him - but he is sort of finding his way - and he is almost 35! you'll get there - in the mean time - find a way to make you ok so you CAN cope w. school.

Have you ever tried imipramine? No cognitive impairment, only bad side effects dry mouth (and possibly insomnia).

In order to find a doctor who cares you have to know the doctor well, for a while. And make them listen. Interupt the conversation when they are going in the wrong direction. Just keep interupting.

I think if you are going to take a drug, imipramine is a good choice.

I see what you are saying.

I don't think many psychiatric medications are safe. I see what they can do long term.

I may take a medication, and it may help, but there will be consequences that I will need to deal with.

It's just like my friends who smoke marajuanna. They will smoke it, but they tell me straight out not to get started.

So I would never recomend psychiatric drugs to anybody, but I still may take them.
