Do you mean clozapine? I know it hits many receptors,
I thought clonidine only had one action as an alpha 2 agonist.

Really? I can't find anything that says it does more than alpha-2 agonism.

So Ace, you got some info suggesting metformin is good for weight loss through sensitization of insulin receptors? Something like that?

> DeclanIn one word yes. I have already noticed a difference (not huge) in appetite levels after 3 days. But, alas, it gives me HORRIBLE reflux problems. Unless I see a big improvement after 3 weeks, I'm going straight to Topomax. Have you had much experienec with these meds....sorry mate, what are you on now, and how is your weight...
Speak soon friend,
Ace

Ace, Ward Dean at IAS suggests taking metformin as an antiaging drug. I wonder if there is a low dose of it that might be sensible long term. You know, helpful and not too injurious.

I have found nicotine patches seem to help with Nardil food cravings. Mine are not generally bad, so I don't use them much.
Ace: have you ever taken a diuretic with Nardil? I take 50mg hydrochlorothiazide per day. Without it, I'd weigh at least 10lbs more due to water alone. This could be part of your weight gain. If I don't take the HCTZ, by the end of the day my legs look like the michelin man's around where the top of my socks meet my calves.

Yep, I have to take Lasix at times, or I get the same Michelin Man legs. NOT attractive.
I do find that for me, the edema is dose-dependent. It's not showing up at 45 mg.
