I was on Zyprexa for 2 months, then developed extreme anxiety and had to discontinue. Since stopping altogether 7 weeks ago, I have experienced nausea, loss of appetite, anxiety worse than before taking the drug. Now I am on Remeron, which helps but am afraid it will have similar withdrawal symptoms. How long will Zyprexa withdrawal take? Doc says there is no withdrawal with Zyprexa but I know differently.

I had similar withdrawal symptoms from Seroquel (also an antipsychotic). It was very difficult dealing with the nausea and anxiety until I started hydroxyzine hcl. It was a tremendous help and it's a pretty benign drug, from what my pdoc told me.

It could be a new symptom of your initial illness or a new illness all together. Since the anxiety didnt go away even after several weeks of stopping the zyprexa I would be inclined to think its not that which caused it.

I certainly think its possible to get withdrawl effects from zyprexa however I didnt get any when I stopped. Also just my experience but I have stopped, due to forgetting to refill my prescription, mirtazapine/remeron several times and not had any withdrawl effects either.
Best regards, Bunny

i've been on it for a while now but every once in a while i'll be bad and go off it for a week or so, my anxiety sky rockets.
1)you will notice decrease in appetite cuz your body got used to the zyprexa increasing your appetite (it makes you not know when you are full)
2)for me i had high anxiety before and zyprexa actually helps suppress it. so it most likely was present before and now that you're off it you are feeling it's full presence.best wishes

my pdoc tried me on remeron first cuz there is a chance of weight gain but not near what zyprexa's average is. remeron ave=5-10lbs, zyprexa=25-40. yikes. i gained 23 on zyprexa. :(
unfortunately it works.

I was on zyprexa for 2 months also. I gained about 12kg's and was a walking zombie. I really hated this drug. It made things worse for me but I didn't experience any withdrawals. I know some people benefit greatly from this drug but it made my life hell

Zyprexa is the best thing for my anxiety. I don't think the zyprexa is the cause of anxiety. Its posible you did not take enough of it. What dose were you on? Apatite reduction is deffinity from zyprexa withdraw. Trouble sleeping would be zyprexa withdraw. It takes a few months to withdraw from zyprexa. Depending on how dependant you were. I've been taking zyprexa for 7 years and have a very hard time with the withdraw. Seems like I never can get used to it. I did cut my dose in half, and it took about 3-6 months to get used to it.
